Enjoying everyone's recordings very much this month! thumb

Bill: Gosh that was great - you're right "in tune" as always. smile Which electric piano voice were you using? I think we have similar voicings on our Rolands. Of course, the way you play, any voicing sounds very good.

Well, here's a tune which I'm told is a soap opera theme. I don't watch soap operas, but think it's pretty anyway. smile

John Frank - I liked the understated elegance of your piece. I was surprised that 1:50 - 2:07 and 2:23 - 2:27 were played without sustain. It gave the piece a kind of Bachish feel. Nice.

Elssa - I used the Tremolo Dyno electric piano voice for the first part of the recording.

I really enjoyed your Nadia's Theme video. It is a beautiful melody and you played it perfectly.

Thanks Bill - actually, "understated elegance" was pretty much what I was going for (your perceptiveness is highly laudatory) - however, I'm more than surprised by your surprise - the entire piece was played without sustain shocked , but "Bachish feel" is good too!

Edited to add that no sustain was my intention...but I could have been "leaning" on the pedal slightly without being aware of it (for awhile at least) just out of sheer habit since most of the pieces I play require it...

Elssa -" Nadia's Theme" is beautiful! I do remember that it was the theme for a soap opera, but wasn't it also the song dedicated or retitled for Nadia Comaneci the olympic gymnast? I may have to look that up. confused

John Frank, I like that piece.

Elssa, I think I recognize the music as the theme of The Young and the Restless, or is it The Old and the Worn Out? My wife used to watch that annoying load of . . . err . . . show. Nice job.

Okay, A bit of sad news.. This will probably be the last month that me and Augustina can put up piano duets frown SHe is moving out of state at the end of the month. So we recorded a couple of duets this time around. This one I'm putting up is called Lavender Blue Dilly Dilly. We did get to practice this one but I think she is putting up another one and we only played that one several times so it might have some mistakes on it :P But I'm sad!! My duet partner is leaving me.. =(

Lavender Blue - ah, a tune I should learn for my senior home gigs. I remember it from when I was young, even smile Thanks for the reminder.

It's Sunday morning, and I decided to open the lid on my Yamaha and make a recording! This is nothing new, just "The Weeping Willow" - unrehearsed and only 1 take. (sorry, a little rusty with this piece, but I hope you still enjoy it).. smile

Hmmm...I'm only familiar with Lavender's Blue from the short, simple version in Alfred Adult Book 1. LOL I never heard the whole thing before.

LP and Augustina, I enjoyed your duets, and am sorry that you won't get to do them anymore.

Cebukid - loved "Weeping Willow". I really enjoy listening to ragtime. And I liked your slide show too. :-)

ladypayne/Augustina - I'm really going to miss the duets. I think your Lavender Blue may be your finest performance to date. Hopefully you both will continue to contribute individually.

I am really enjoying everyone's playing,

David - that little fellow sitting on your piano must be a totem, because the force is with you.
John - There is nothing mediocre about your playing. It is even and expressive.
Elssa - smooth and professional sounding as usual.
Augustina and Payne, I'm sorry to hear you are losing your duet partners, but you both sounded wonderful today.
CebuKid - If I could play Joplin that well "unrehearsed", I'd record something everyday.

...As it is I'm having trouble doing it once a month but I hope to have something up in the next week or two. tired

Bill, Mom3Gram, et al - thanks! I'm glad you all enjoyed it. For me, Joplin never gets old, and every Joplin piece I learn will forever be in my repertoire. This was played as if you all went to my house for breakfast, and I gave an impromptu performance. I really do love posting "pure" performances like this - mistakes and all..lol. (I haven't touched this piece for about a month).

The video was just random stuff from my pictures directory. smile Ironically, it took about an hour to put all this together (vs. the 3 minute performance).
