Hello,

I'm a pianist/guitarist who has made a living for the past six years teaching and playing wedding/corporate gigs. However, I just moved to a new city and have struggled to find adequate work doing either of those things. I'm beginning to consider other options, but would prefer to keep my work music-related as much as possible. I have degrees from Berklee in performance and music business.

Does anyone on the forum have suggestions for alternative music jobs that are not usually thought of?

Thanks.

Besides teaching how about selling instruments ? Check around the music stores and even if their not hiring now put in an application. It will help keep you in touch with the local music scene too so maybe those gigs will start up again.

For better money but not really music realted go to a Bartending School. You can learn the basics quickly and make some good money in the right places. If you work in places that have music its great for contacts.of all kinds. Talk and be friendly to your customers and the tips and info gathered will be great.
Been there done that.
