Does anybody have any news about the successor for the Yamaha P-125?

Couple questions if anybody has any info or predictions:
- Do you think it will be released this year?

- Do you think It will have the CFX sample?

- Do you think they will upgrade the keyaction to tripple sensor GH3?

- Do you think they will introduce a new model between P-125 and P-515?

Anyone know if yamaha's release date scheme is predictable by previous releases?

Even if it was before U3piano, with the pandemic I wouldn't count on it now.

P-105: 2012

P-135 should be out by September.

What's the benfit for Yamaha in upgrading their low-lier DP with GH action? P-125 was selling well without it. As were P-115 and P-105 before. It would include casing re-design and probably increase weight. I can bet a lot of money, that P-135 will have "better speakers", some new BT app features and maybe, maybe fancy touchscreen-style buttons, that's all. And people will still buy it.

Maybe they'll come up with a "new GHS" with short keys.

Will the new model have a longer pivot length?
And what about the downweight?
These things are important. I gotta know right now! smile

OT: Would it be fair to assume that - with all manufacturers of DPs put together, there's a release of a new model every week of the year? I'll wait for the advertisement that finally says, "a DP action that's better than a grand action."

OP @Jure and others, I sincerely apologize, nothing of my post is of any value. Feel free to give me flak, I deserve it, or ignore. Apologies again.

A man must love a thing very much if he practices it without any hope of fame or money, but even practice it without any hope of doing it well. Such a man must love the toils of the work more than any other man can love the rewards of it.

The GH action is too deep to fit into the 2007 P-85 casing. And that is what the P-125 is: a P-85 with updated software. The P-135 will be no different.

To add to my somewhat flippant "no" response above:

1. Yamaha plays extremely well in this price point (~600-700 budget DP), the P-125 is likely the industry leader, so there's not a lot of pressure to change it.

2. The GHS is still being used and released in new products (e.g., CP-series. MODX8, etc.). It serves its purpose and isn't going anywhere.

3. PureCF engine is really starting to get long in the tooth. If there's a major update that could be made, I think moving to a CFX sample set, 88-key sampling, etc., is an "easy" upgrade to differentiate from the P-45 and wouldn't cannibalize sales from higher end models like the P-515.

4. The P-515 is already really aggressively priced for what it offers. Maybe there's a $900-1000 in-betweener opportunity, but IMO it's slicing the market pretty thin.

1. p95-2009,p105-2012,p115-2015,p125-2018,so I guess p135 will release this year
2. CFX sample:yes. because dgx670 has it. dgx670 has the same main piano as ydp184. So, p135 should also have CFX samples with old VRM technology. But binaural samples and the new VRM may not be available. At least, p135 will have ydp144 level main piano voices.
3. GH3 keybed:no. dgx670 is still using ghs. Speaking of the keybed, I am looking forward to the next generation of p515. Will GrandTouch-s and the newly sampled CFX and Bos piano be used in it?
4. I don't think yamaha will bring out a mid-level portable piano. What configuration will it be? GH3 keybed with the voice of clp725? How about the weight? How will it priced? I don't think many people will choose it, unless the new p-525(?) is overpriced

The prices are really close. the 670 is $800.

They'd have to upgrade the 125's speakers alot to justify a 135 without all of dgx670's features. I doubt they'll do a new action for this price category.

Here's an add-on question:

Will there be a P-131, the 73-key version of the P-135?

Something tells me that sales of the P-121 were underwhelming. Rather than officially discontinue it, they could just allow it to die a natural death, by not coming out with a P-131.
