Customer has an older QRS and the drive died. He also is an owner of a piano with a Pianodisc system in another home and controls it wireless via iPad. I was set to pull his control unit, remove the dead drive and install a new replacement, buying him sometime before a presumed upgrade to modern QRS system.

Now I am thinking maybe he is better off getting a set of bluetooth midi plugs and downloading midi-files from the net and playing them over a streaming app (link at bottom). Have any of you marched down this road and found shangri la?

I do not think the digital piano area is appropriate for this discussion. That is for digital pianos, not player systems.

If the customer can play MIDI files through the iPad, that sounds like a good idea, but I do not work with player systems and cannot say whether it would work or not. It should be cheap enough and easy enough to try, though.

I've installed a number of those systems and I think the link from the controller to the solenoids is a proprietary stream. Try inserting the output of a phone into the input of the solenoids. It will be mono only.
