Any answers? Seriously thinking about downgrading if possible because it is VERY annoying having to select your favorite settings again after a restart of the DP...

Virtual Technician using the display instead of only the app is not worth it (for me). I also think that the display is too sensitive for this, one easily changes the VT parameters while scrolling through them.
Maybe make it read-only by default?

For sure if you ask me.

Hi,

I tried out a 79 in the store today, and was quite shocked to discover that all the cool user parameters such as per-key voicing and volume have been removed (I previously owned a 67).

Does the latest firmware bring these back again?

Yes, and even more than that: new bugs and old bugs are included for free!

Hello folks,

Thank you for your feedback.

@fr34k, thank you for the heads up regarding the the PDF instructions file mix-up. I corrected this a few hours after reading your post.

@Tuomas 2, the update method that you describe (install official system update, then apply beta update) should work.

@John62, thank you for the information regarding the "Auto Display Off" timer irregularity. This should be fixed shortly, however until then please set the "Auto Display Off" setting to Off.

@Pianico, I'm afraid I do not know the reason why the Startup Settings are not being applied, but will report this to my colleagues. If you would like to return to the prevous version of the software, please send me a PM.

@Ben Crosland, the "User" Virtual Technicians are implemented with the most recent software update.

Kind regards,
James

Thanks James! PM sent.

Btw, my settings are also restored to (factory) defaults when I enter and leave the Virtual Technician settings.

@Pianico. The old links still works on my side. So you may download them directly from Kawai

System firmware: https://www.kawai-global.com/data/updates/cax9/ca99_ca79_sys_v108.zip
UI: https://www.kawai-global.com/data/updates/cax9/ca99_ca79_lcd_v106.zip

@KawaiJames

Here is my experience with upgrading and fiddling with the new features.

- As for the upgrade, I had no issue with my piano (CA79) for both the system and UI. All went according to the included instruction pdf documents

- Virtual tech. - Temperament key

* When interacting with it, the stretching menu above disappears. This has the side effect of moving the menu up. So your finger no longer point at the right menu
* Also, when exiting the temperament user editing, the stretching menu is now there but with an empty label in the middle (Cannot reproduce all the time). See picture below

- Virtual tech. - Voicing

* For me, this was the main feature that I was waiting for. I am glad to report that it helped (on my setup) with the hissing sound that I was getting on the F5# et A5#. Those 2 keys were irritating my ears when playing them. It now does way less hissing to my ears. It is still there, but less apparent. So am still hopeful that Kawai will address the issue by allowing us to better control the EQ in a future update

- Fixed: Bug related to stored sounds not being recalled correctly at startup.

* This does not seem to work on my piano. I get the default piano sound, as if the startup settings was set to reset, but it is not. It is set to "Power Off". Am I doing something wrong here?

No we're all experiencing this. See https://semestriel.framapad.org/p/kawai-ca79ca99-ui-amp-system-issues-9mga

Hi,

@fr34k - Thanks for confirming that I was not alone with this issue.

That being said, I found a fix for it by having the following:

- startup screen is set to "Sound"
- Startup settings set to "Power off".

With both settings set to the above values, I now boot up to the last sound that I was using. Hope this helps someone.

Regards

Hi All, I'm very close to pulling the trigger on a CA79 and want to be sure that the the new updated control of the volume and voicing of individual keys can be controlled by the PianoRemote apps's Virtual Technician.

Thanks

Yes it can. But download it and go into demo mode. There you can verify it yourself.

Hello! Does this work for anybody else? Are all settings (including system configuration) restored? I am still thinking about upgrading to the newest software version.

Regards,
Julian

Hello everybody,

I wanted to apply the updates to my NV10S. The system update worked immediately, but I feel the sound quality has been impacted: not sure if this is just an impression from my side, but I liked more how it sounded before.

However, no way to get the USB stick recognized for the LCD update. I do not know what I am doing wrong here: I found an additional printer USB port under the instrument which I can use through an adapter to the USB stick. In any case the UI files on the stick are not detected (I changed stick, formatted it from the instrument itself, etc...)

Can anybody help to perform the UI update on the NV10S?
Is there a way to come back to the previous system version?

Thank you in advance.

Did you follow the manual for the LCD update?
Connect the prepared USB memory device to the [USB for UPDATE]
port located on the left side of the instrument, underneath the keyboard, and behind the headphone connector block.

Apologize, I was not looking at the right place. Now I found the intended port... Still the update is not being proposed as per instructions. I will try again with other stick etc.
Thank you.

Unfortunately I still cannot get any USB stick recognized for the UI update. May this depend on the fact that I have updated the system firmware first?
Any possibility to correct this?
Thank you for any help.

No, I don't believe the order in which the updates are applied is significant.

What kind of USB sticks are you trying, and what filesystem are they formatted to?
Are you using a PC or Mac?

Kind regards,
James

Thank you James.
I am using now the same USB stick I inserted for the system update (SanDisk USB 3.0 16GB) without any issue since the first attempt.
I am using a Macbook to upload the files.
I tried to format it to FAT32 both on the Mac and directly through the piano as suggested also in this thread... And all process repeated several times.
