Hola amigos, feliz año nuevo.
Mi nombre es Juan y soy de España. Recientemente me inicie en esto del piano y compre a través de un amigo un piano que dejaron abandonado en un piso.
El piano es muy bonito y pese a sonar bajo de tono la verdad que da gusto sentarse a practicar en el. La duda que tenemos, ya que no podemos hablar con su antiguo propietario, es de que piano se trata. Pone en una chapa que es un chickering y según un afinador que hemos hablado con el, nos comenta que es muy antiguo. Hemos mirado y no hemos encontrado ningún numero de serie en donde se supone que tiene que estar y por mas que miro por la red no consigo ver ninguna foto de un piano parecido para saber de que año y modelo es realmente. Nuestra intención es dejarlo lo mas funcional posible para seguir practicando en el. ¿Conocen ustedes este piano? ¿creen que merece la pena dejarle funcional? It is a birdcage action piano, so it is not a Chickering. Most likely it is European. There were many European manufacturers of inexpensive pianos, so exact identification is probably not practical. If it does not stay in tune, it is not likely to be worth saving. Having a piano tuner evaluate it is the best way to decide what to do with it.

Muchas gracias por su respuesta. Seguiré investigando y intentaremos que un afinador lo ponga a tono.
Mirando por la red, la verdad que encontré unas fotos de un chickering que parecen este piano. Seguramente sea una imitación de el, porque el parecido es bastante. Les dejo el enlace.

I guess it is possible that Chickering made birdcage pianos, but I had never run across one. In any case, it will be difficult to make such an old piano play well.
