no I'm not trying to provoke some deep and meaning full discussion as to whether we are alone in the universe (though feel free if you like! whistle), rather looking for a decent sheet version of this classic Bowie song...

getting really frustrated now, I've bought two versions only to find they're either overly simplified or quite far removed from the original. I'm about grade four standard, though very rusty and for me to sit and learn a new piece I at least need a bit of a challenge to keep me interested!

So if anyone can give me the name of a book or point me in the direction of a site I'll be forever grateful, I'll even post a vid of me singing/playing and dedicate it to you if you like!! (in many many months time wink )

thanks for that though it looks more simple there than the original recording sounds... I wonder if a lot of people ad-lib to make the sound fuller, not sure I'm up to that though

Well the orginal recording features other instruments... The treble piano part is more or less what's on the record.

The 'ad-lib' comment you made is the thing that's the key to interpreting sheet

music such as this.

Look at the guitar tabs - they tell you what the chords are, and you can then

'fill in' those chords, maybe adding arpeggios etc, to give the piece

a fuller sound. Also feel free to move up & down the octaves for extra dynamics.

i have scads and scads of sheet music for popular music.

never am i satisfied with it.

i look at it as a guide, and then arrange it myself.

for classical music, however, i follow the music exactly, that is when i can follow the music exactly.

If you need some excitement, don't go for Bowie's life on mars. Go for something more complicated.
