Anyone knows of Baldwin Baby Grand Digital Piano GPS2500 (Baldwin Pianovelle GPS2500)?

Someone is selling it, and told me it's about 3 years old. But I thought GPS2500 is an older model number, which could be older than 3 years? Any insights?

Also, if all function well, is it worthwhile for $2,500?

And is this a good piano for a beginner for myself? Also, in 4-5 years, I'd like my daughter to start learning the piano too. Is it a good instrument? Anything I should be aware of?

Thanks!!

This instrument is closer to 10-12 years old. It was built by Generalmusic, an Italian company and distributed by the former Baldwin P & O before the bankruptcy and takeover by Gibson in late 2001. Under the new ownership, Baldwin absolved itself of any responsibility for parts or warranty service for the Pianovelle digital pianos, since they did not continue the relationship with Generalmusic. Also, Generalmusic has no responsibility for warranty service or parts on the Baldwin Pianovelles, since their role was as an OEM supplier, not as a distributor. That is not to say that you could not get parts from Generalmusic, but they have no vested interest in Baldwin Pianovelle.

You might want to post this question on the digital piano forum, but a good analogy would be the current value of a 12 year old personal computer. Technology has advanced at the same rate as the computer industry during the last decade. $2500 is not much compared to the cost of a new baby grand digital, but you can get a much newer vertical digital for that price, if not a brand new one with a factory warranty.

I agree. The Suzuki's leave a lot to be desired in my opinion. Hence the reason you can only find them in Costco and so few "dealers" carry them.

I'd look for a Roland or Clavinova. They are by far the industry leaders.

I have a pianovelle GPS2500 which had some corruption in the OS. I got an OS disk from generalmusic.us, and it only made things worse. It would not install and then wiped out the existing OS that was installed. I am seeking a good copy of an Operating System disc. If you have any thoughts on the topic, please advise asap, thanks. - craig@easicomputers.net
