I'm looking for an introductory piano and my craigslist has a Kawai ES6 for $500.

I was wondering what's the general going price for used Kawai ES6.

I couldn't find any others being sold in order to compare prices.

Visually it looks brand-new.

Thank you.

I can't help with the prices. But I can suggest that you not judge the piano because it looks new. You'll need to try it out to see that it functions correctly.

FWIW --

The ES6 design is 10 years old (the manual is copyright 2008), which is two or three "generations" (the current similar model is the ES8, and there was an ES7 in between).

But it's a good DP, and the price is low. Might be worth buying. (I've never played one, this comment is based on specs).

Check if it's using the PHI sound source (or above) or not, if not, then go buy another piano, Kawai model without PHI sound not as good as Yamahas or Roland with the same year that they produced, still, it's best if u could find another newer Kawai model, as to me they have the most realistic key action

You can check how much other people have paid for the Kawai ES6 by going to ebay and doing an advanced search to return all completed sales. Then you will see the most recent prices that people have paid. Obviously, condition will play a part so make sure you check to see if the other sales match the instrument you're considering buying.

The ES6 and ES7 models do use the PHI engine. The HI-XL samples and sound engine are only available on the current ES8 model.

Moreover, the ES6 uses the AHAIV-F action that was replaced by the RH-II on the ES7 and by the RH-III on the ES8.

While the ES6 was indeed a fine piano in 2008, it is now using technologies that are already two-generations old. Therefore it may not be your best option, regardless of its price and condition. If you are looking for a second-hand Kawai, try finding an instrument with the HI-XL sound engine and with the RH-III action. I am not sure you will find anything at that price point though...

For a little more money you can have a new ES110, wich is the roughly the same piano.

I mean $200 isn't a little more.

I managed to grab a P105 for $275 so I'm good now.

200$ is not that little, true, but you'd be covered by a 5 year warranty.
Unless you are able to open your digital and clean contacts or lubricate keys...you'll pay those 200 anytime soon.
There are lots of tutorials on the subject in yt that worth a look.
