Does anybody know how they treat the main professional piano features: sustain pedal resonance, una corda pedaling (sampled or not?), repedaling, release samples, how many velocity layers etc.?

Is this in advance of a new product release??? This is advertised as a spring sale on a lot of the TimeSpace products. There are quite a few spring sales from other VI firms (albeit under other names). Big question: Are these the same East West pianos from a decade ago? Or are they new? This is not so transparent and there are some errors in TimeSpace pages so can't be certain. I think different versions (SILVER, GOLD, PLATINUM) are differentiated principally by: - Bit rate (16 vs 24 bit) - Number of Mics (3 mics total, SILVER only has close mic) - Chromatic sampling (SILVER samples only every third note and stretches) - Other features For example, Steinway D SILVER-----7.2GB--16/44.1--close mic only--sample stretching GOLD-------12GB---16/44.1 PLATINUM-63GB---24/44.1 FULL 2007--59GB The 5x increase in size from GOLD to PLATINUM is explained only partly by increase to 24 bit. There may be some sample stretching in GOLD, fewer mics and reduced features. But I'm not sure. There is some confusion on download vs. required disc GB size.
"The (SILVER) Lite patches use less memory than the Full patches; they achieve their smaller size in RAM by not being chromatically sampled. That is, while the Full patches load into memory samples for all 88 notes on the keyboard, the Lite patches load only every third note; the sounds of the remaining notes are achieved by “stretching†the closest sampled note up or down a semitone." The other 2007-2013.
In the world of VSTs that's ancient. I'll pass on this one.
The $65 to $98 price range is palatable. But I don't need another inferior VST in my collection.

I have the Composer Cloud plan but never tried these pianos because I assumed they were old and not that great. This post made me wonder about it so I tried the Steinway and the Bechstein. They're not bad, but they're nothing special. Ivory is quite a bit better IMO, as a reference point.

I think it's technically the Gold version. You can get two mic positions: Close and Player.

Well the full samples aren't specifically called "full." Any of the samples which don't say "Lite" are full. However, they ARE separated into "Full" and "Lite" folders in the interface. The samples themselves are called things like either "bech master" or "bech master lite."

I was interested in these a while back but read some reviews online that people were having issues downloading the files from the server and that the customer service didn't respond to them or something to that effect. But at this price, I might try it.
These do not have pedal down samples though right? The demos sound great but honestly we all know how amazing demos always sound when you aren't playing the instrument yourself.

Really? Sample-stretched?  One thing is for sure, im not paying for a piano vst using sample stretching. If that's true then it really is a decade-old clunker. Not worth the price at 34% off. Perhaps it belongs in the Wal Mart $5 bargain bin?

About EastWest, I love the Bechtstein sound, but the velocity layers are not closed, then playing at the threshold of them, the sound changes unexpectedly. it is really a pitty. Unplayable !
But other pianos seems more playable, but I prefer the Bechstein sound.
