Hi folks, new to this forum, but I shouldn't be as I've been playing old songs all my life.

I have a question for you knowledgeable people--

How many piano rolls have you seen with the date of production shown?

I called QRS a few years ago to ask if there was any way to tell when their rolls were originally produced, and the person I spoke to said "no".

So--does anyone know about this issue?

I'm confused about what you can answer .. it seems to me that with this question you need to contact the piano repair services and they will definitely be able to give you the answer

Some roll labels have a 3-digit code on them, indicating the month and year of original release, such as "923" (September, 1923) or "125" (January, 1925).

I would recommend getting in touch with Peter Phillips. He is the guru when it comes to historic piano rolls.
He has a website https://www.petersmidi.com/

Many other gurus hang out in the Player Piano Talk group on Facebook. I suggest asking your question there.
