I have a "Hartzman"?
Have you heard of it before?

it was bought at Newcombe Piano Co. in Toronto and I can not find any information about it. Any help would be great.

Thanks!

NEW - I've researched as much as I can and the only info I can find is that this piano might have been built around the 1920's.

Any help would be great

Thanks

Are you sure it's not a Heintzman? How about posting a photo of plate or any labels?

sells used Newcombe pianos in Mississauga I wonder if someone working there might know, or at the links below.
Canadian encyclopedia According to the encyclopedia link, I wonder if it is from the time period after the fire at the factory in 1926. Newcombe stopped making pianos but sold them as a retailer. Willis acquired Newcombe in 1926 according to this Willis piano information Is there anything on the inside of the piano labelled? Is there a serial number?

Nice decoration on the piano. Have you ever come close to knocking anything off while playing?

Thanks for the info guest1013. I'll see if there is any serial number inside the piano and get back to you.
As for 'knocking anything off while playing', the piano is not used at all. It is sitting (for atmosphere) at my English tea shop. Maybe if it is worth something I'll spend the money to fix it up. smile

Based on what I understand from PW threads here and in the FAQ, it is my guess that it is highly doubtful that it is worth something to fix up, especially if it has been neglected, not tuned or maintained. In a best case scenario, there may be sentimental reasons for restoring such an old upright. The cost of labor, materials, etc. is generally more than what you could ever hope to gain from selling it. See the PW website, on the left hand side links to Piano age or Piano value for other guidelines.
