People are reporting Pop Up ads suddenly showing up on Piano World.

This is not something we did.
I don't know if we were hacked or something in our code somewhere got changed (by google or someone).

If it happens to you, please try to get some info for us (carefully, and I wouldn't follow the ads, I have no idea who/how/why at the moment).

When does it happen? (when you first come to the forums, when you click into a thread, every time, only once? )

If you can do a screen capture that would help.

Also, note what is showing in your url bar at the top of the page.

It would also help to know what browser you are using and what version.

I'm working with our IT guy to resolve this as quickly as possible.

You can send info directly to me and/or post a reply to this thread. frank@pianoworld.com

Thank you for your help, we'll get it fixed.

I think I've figure it out...

The Google Vignette tagged onto the end of the url in the bar was my hint.

It's taken me about 45 minutes to figure out that back when I checked a box in my Google AdSense
to allow them to "optimize" my ads it also allowed them to run experiments (ostensibly to find the most effective ad). I use Google AdSense to try to generate some income from my sites (it's expensive to host/maintain them).

The latest experiment included testing placement of Google Ads, hence the pop-ups/page overs.

I've shut off optimization, need to check it again in an hour or so to see if it has stopped the pop-up as well.
Otherwise I've got to go back to my AdSense account and try to figure out how to remove it. They make it easy
to add stuff, not so easy to remove it.

On my own personal site, which I run since 1996, I got all kind of disasters from turning ON some optimizations on Google Ads, so I reverted to the bare minimum
