Pianos are objects / instruments that have a very long state of permanence, with a destination almost independent of the events of the world around them. I always think about how pianos will stay for many, many years, and create their long history, even when you and I are no longer around.

But, like palaces and turtles, pianos also come to an end one day...

I recommend checking out the incredible work of this young and award-winning Dutch photographer, Roman Robroek, who, in addition to pianos, photographs places, palaces, buildings and abandoned things. Amazing artístic work!

Very interesting. I was going to post how sad it was to see the beauty gone from the subjects of these pictures, but his artistic genius still communicated remnants of beauty in a lot of the pictures.

Thanks for sharing! The photos were very interesting. I thought it was fascinating that pianos were a recurring theme... that they endured in spaces when nothing else did, even if they were decayed. Although I guess you could alternatively argue that they were abandoned along with the edifice. Either way, I’m left with the feeling that those pianos have incredible stories to tell!

Thank you for sharing. I’m so glad I learned to play piano. I get to have a gorgeous piano in my home. When I’m looking inside with the lid on full stick, I think my piano is not only my instrument, it’s also a beautiful piece of craftsmanship. Pianos keep their physical beauty long after their voice is gone. Sad but beautiful.

Yes. Imagine all the situations they witnessed, the people that have been around, and so forth. If only they could speak to us...
