New expanded list. Added some of the pieces suggested by Bennevis. The list went from 15 pieces to 23. Please note the difference between "Easiest" and "Easy". There are no "Easy" Chopin pieces. Thanx to all who contributed to the list and to those who took the time to post videos.

For what it's worth, here is a graded list of chopin pieces, beginning at grade 4-5.

Note that it's also possible to give two different grades to the same piece. One grade where you can expect to play it okish, and also take away something from learning the piece (not just struggle). And another, higher, grade at which you are "above" the piece and expect to master all aspects of it.

I think if you chop off any pieces it should be the ones that are some of the very early works that are often not even included in a books with Chopin's music of a given genre. This would mean most of posthumous ones with a B listing except for the A minor Waltz. Some of those are IMO not worth the student's time and effort. The Mazurkas OTOH are generally considered high level Chopin.

Interesting thread - but you removed from the list a few pieces that even I managed to learn. Of course if you mean that they must be learned to note-perfect super-fast performance level, then you may have been right to remove them, but if the list includes pieces that can be learned to a decent standard and, most of all, can teach one a lot of things about Chopin's music, then I thing these should be included:

Nocturne no. 21 in C minor, B. 108 - Learning the polyrhythms in this one will allow you to learn many other pieces by Chopin, it's something that must be overcome sooner or later.
Nocturne no. 20 in C# minor - I found it easier than the previous one actually, or maybe it's just that once you get the polyrhythms, it's not so frightening any more.
Waltz in C#minor op. 64 no. 2 - This one is long and complicated, but it's amazing how quick it is to learn, how logical, as soon as you get over the most difficult parts. And it's so beautiful and rewarding... unless you want to play it as fast as Yuja Wang!

But of course difficulties are so subjective.

I can't find a grading for this one page posthumous piece that I trust, but IMHO it was not much more difficult than Prelude in Cm Op. 28 No. 20.

Largo is IMTA graded as D2 which is late intermediate-early advanced
