https://www.kawai.co.jp/news/20210518/Looks like a small upgrade, with new sound engine, UI and parts of stereo system for both models. There is no NV11/20 soundboard version this time.

They mention sales estimates of 300 units of each model. I wonder whether those figures are for worldwide sales, or just for the domestic Japanese market?
I'm keen to try the new 10. I also wonder when it will show up in the US.

I agreed to not disclose this information but now I can, I have the NV5S on order for a while! :-) Until now I didn't even know the name nor any details.
Although it seems to be improved only a little (which actually can be a good thing!) I like the fact that the NV5S is now compatible with the PianoRemote app according to the specs.
August Förster upright (sold). Kawai ES8 (sold). Kawai NV5S.

What’s exactly new?
I thought NV5 included the slightly improved sound engine compared to NV10. Apparently there’s an even newer upgrade. Wondering what the difference is.
I wouldn’t want to be one of those who purchased a NV5 recently though… 🤭

My guess is that due to the impact of the current Covoid on intl economy and production capacity, manufacturers have lowered their sales expectations. Mac, I think you will be able to try the new NV10s in the summer.

This ... What’s exactly new? I thought NV5 included the slightly improved sound engine compared to NV10. Apparently there’s an even newer upgrade. Wondering what the difference is. Too often the only thing that's new and improved is the flim-flam wording of the product literature. I hope that's not the case here.

Congratulations on ordering the new model so quickly. In addition to the sound engine and UI, they claim to have upgraded the high frequency transducer of soundboard, so improvements are sure to come.

They made no such claim ... ... they claim to have upgraded the high frequency transducer of soundboard, so improvements are sure to come. Read it carefully. They may simply have found a cheaper part. It could be nothing more than a part substitution. And no one would ever know ... because few people would have opportunity to compare the old piano and the new side by side. This is not cynicism. It's skepticism over vaguely stated claims. There might indeed be real improvement here. But ink on paper (or pixels on screen) do not convince. It's also recognition of common manufacturing practice. A product changes over its production life. Changes are frequently made to reduce costs.

Let’s not be too skeptical about the “S” upgrade; it could turn out to be something significant. I remember back when the AG “X” variant came out and I personally dismissed it as ‘more of the same’, yet despite not being a ‘full redesign’, it was indeed a substantial upgrade. I’m also intrigued about the upgraded ‘high frequency transducer’, and if I may speculate, this could indeed be the precursor to a speaker-less system (only soundboard) for the future. Now, if I may bask in the sun some: ‘Hybrids’ are usually upgraded at a 7/8 year cycle (sometimes even longer if we go by the GranTouch), but Kawai has cut this in half (about 4 years); is this not the very definition of exponential growth (4,8,16, etc..)? If we get more frequent upgrades, even if these are not monumental, these will add up quicker (8,16,32, etc.) and lead to that holy grail we all want much sooner. And keep in mind that this is all happening despite the ‘covoid’; honestly, I didn’t expect anything new/upgraded this year because manufacturers are still struggling to get existing models out the door. It’s exponential, the future, hold on to your horses (figuratively).

A friend of mine just ordered the old NV5 two weeks ago, maybe arrived this month. Not sure if it's good or bad?

I wouldn’t want to be one of those who purchased a NV5 recently though… 🤭 Ouch! You know, the NV10S uses a larger subwoofer! I’ll be waitin’ by the sea waitin’, for you see ain’t nobody waitin’ ain’t nobody waitin’ ain’t nobody waitin’ more than me...... And now I can hear that Shigeru bass roar!
