Now we just need to figure out what "shouldn't compare" means.

Is it that just the comparison as an act is forbidden? "Thou shalt not..."

Is it that we shouldn't compare because the other one is in its own league and it's an apples vs. oranges comparison?

Can we make it to page 9?

I've made it to page 12... Must be a mobile phone thing.

Although we need to stop comparing mobile to desktops.

They're 2 different things.

Well said. On the other hand cross plane V8's seem to be the province of the US market; I much prefer the European approach with a flatplane V8 as per Ferrari for example. Chevvy v's Ferarri? No contest whatsoever.

Cheers... :-)

All these talks and chitchats and the electricity they consume as a whole, here, on reddit and elsewhere. Makes me wonder every time...to what end?

Perhaps, if we had been directly responsible for creating the energy, the electricity that we consume, we would have had a greener earth. Think Black Mirror S1E2, from the positive aspect.

I can't afford an acoustic piano therefore I have a digital piano; And I appreciate it. I have to.

Threads per page and posts per page are settings in your user preferences. I believe the default is 20 for both.

That's a terrible example. Chevy V8s (LS series) are tenth fold more reliable, better mileage, less maintenance and better performance. Corvette vs all Ferrari's for example. (Excluding the million dollar cars)The only number that's really higher on their engines is horsepower per liter which is an arbitrary number except if you about regulations. Ferrari engines are physically bigger and heavier.

With Ferrari you pay for exclusivity, name , and carbon fiber wrapped around a hand built car. Ferrari is the equivalent of buying those million dollar pianos made of crystals, that add nothing but a higher price tag. There's people that buy things based on functionality or superiority complex.

But I'd still rather drive a Ferrari than a Chevy. No contest.

Now ... back to pianos?

Greener earth? Less energy consumption? Wait a minute, digital piano, VST via computer? I recommend an analogue musical instrument. Wouldn't that be a very valuable contribution to a greener earth? Oops, another comparison ..... we were going to stop there, sorry. whistle wink

THIS just in!

The Ministry of Good and Plenty is pleased to announce a 25 % increase in the people’s monthly quota of wood from 4 logs to 3 but violators found exceeding or disputing the new quota will be subject to a penance session in Room 101. 🤫 In other good news, comparisons are now aloud during a brief trial period.

Continuing on from MBIG’s suggestion, it may make for a telling comparison to measure 1) the amount of workers - human and robotic - required, 2) human labor hours spent, 3) types of tools and machinery employed, 4) resources raw and refined used and 5) the amount of total emissions - harmful and not - put into the atmosphere in producing 1 Acoustic Grand - Steinway or the like versus 1 (or 10 or 100 or 1000 or whatever typical factory run necessary to yield at least 1 ) mid to high-end Digital Piano.... or it may not 😎

This thread is quite long. Perhaps excessively so.

Thank you Mac for your prompt and efficient report.

Alright folks, there you have it, no animals harmed to boot! .... may the bells ring out and the talking and chitchatting resume and lets remember, occasional piano analysis and comparison is permitted🍻🥲
