My god someone finally got it right.... Minus the lack of mod wheel and pitch. But! Wow this is a thing of beauty. I do not know why more keyboard companies do not aim to make this quality of builds!

The case is beautiful, but the keyboard itself (in all their models) are generic Fatar... You get the same action for a fraction of cost at studiologic or many others.

I'm aware. Makes me want to rebuild a studiologic.

In that case, you may want to rebuild the best action you have access to...

The SL88 Grand action is heavy and unbalanced imho. Also the build quality isn't the best on the action.

I just ordered one. I will give my thoughts on it later this weekend. For the price, I cannot think of any controller that comes close to it in terms of features etc.

Don't forget to edit the velocity curve right from the start. The default one is too soft.

Nothing to protect the end-notes in transit. I've seen stuff with cracked and missing bits of plastic because of this. The woodedn bits at the side need to be more substatial and it'd be fine.

I feel that mine plays nicely, it has a great touch, it is louder than other models for example, yesterday I played a Yamaha CP4 and it had a nice touch with very low key noise. Studio Logic should step up its felt that it uses because the keys are a little noisy. I just think thes companies need to go all the way. The Sl88 Grand is a beautiful controller with a lot of options and pedal support etc. I think it is a winner, but I have seen videos of people removing the foam they use and placing higher quality and thicker foam. I messaged the guy and he told me that he actually decided to do it again and replace it with felt and he said it is much better now. Note he has the Sl Studio88 I do not know if the grand has the same material inside as in this video.

There's an interesting but off-beat mod for the joysticks of the SL88 Grand, to attach joystick knobs on the little sticks. This gave me a much better control ability. It is very cheap and easy mod to do with a drill. You can get the joystick knobs on eBay (https://www.ebay.com/itm/274744401939) and they almost fit. You just have to drill the threads out ever so slightly for a perfect fit.
