Hi guys, Below if it shows, is my original thread which explains the early part of my search for a new piano.

My original thread

So we went back to Sherwood and spent 2 more days in there bouncing between different pianos before finally going with my head and not my heart. Don't get me wrong, I would have loved that old Stienway concert D, but the total price would have been closer to Β£40k. Since i didn't want to spend that amount of cash, it was suggested that i could have work done on the steinway before delivery, and then more as and when or even if i thought it needed it. But if the piano needed to be returned for further work it would be an expensive exercise just to send it there. In part, TwoCats saga helped me with my decision to buy new. So I have bought the Feurich 218. I love the way it sounds and looks, so i guess that's all that matters.

At some point Ill post some pictures, when i find out how.

Since paying the deposit, we've been getting the room and me ready for our new arrival.

Me.... So I have had tinnitus for a while now, mainly in my left ear. Because that didn't sound good, Doc sent me for an MRI which cleared me of anything nasty growing in my head, but did show a condition which name i've forgotten whereby I've a blood vessel which has decided to wrap itself around a nerve which could be the cause of the tinnitus. In the meantime which turned out to be a week last Monday I took a trip to Lincoln to have my ears hoovered out, just in case it's something simple....right ear took 1 minute....problem ear took 10 minutes and a lot of pain to try to clear. It didn't clear, so drops in for 2 weeks, and another trip to Lincoln to try to clear the ear again. This is on the same day the new piano is to be delivered!!! Right now it is almost fully blocked due to the ear drops. Can't play. Driving is painful, but eased if i cover my other ear, so i'm reallllllllly hoping it gets cleared!!!!

The room.... So kids all gone and i have taken over one of the rooms. We have 4 bedrooms. All on the ground floor, but 3 of them up steps. I'll let you get your head around that. The piano room half way up the stairs which will require some kind of lift, or all the way up the steps outside if the piano is going to be posted through the window. Two of the guys from Sherwood came around today to survey the land so to speak and the window option looks favorite at the moment. I shall be taking pictures and maybe a video for you guys to see later.

Some things about the room.....it's not huge at only about 10' x 13' iirc. However it will fit nicely at one end. Ive taken the radiator out and replaced it with a more compact radiator at the other side of the room. I have also installed a portable humidifier which is fully automated to keep 50% humidity.....but i have a question.....what level of humidity do you consider to be too high? I ask, because last weekend, the summer was switched on here in the UK and with it a swing in humidity.....currently at 65 % . My question is, have any of you also added a dehumidifier in order to tighten the band of humidity in the room?

Btw, went with a white glitter paint look on the walls and a black carpet with tinsel sewn in....not for everyone, but it looks amazing to me....cant wait for Monday! Oh and once that's here we'll be buying a sofa to go in there too

Congratulations! That's a beautiful piano, both aesthetically and musically.

Why don't you post in the main piano forum, there's a lot more traffic there.
