@Ctopher7 I just hope to hear something about soon, some hopes.. So far, the only thing that stop me to buy the MP11SE is the well known "slip tape" issue.. Other than that, few weeks ago, I had a chance to try in showroom an MP11 (that has the same GF action of the MP11SE) and I had a great feeling, even better than when I tried the CA79 (that has the GF III action) ...but peraphs there is no point to buy a product which you already know that you have to fix in a couple of the years (from my personal piont of view)... although that, my tentation to buy it is very big smile

I'm in the same boat. In looking at the history of the MP release calendar, it looks like a new one is introduced every 3 years, occasionally 4. The MP11SE/MP7SE were announced in early October 2017, so we're in a fairly stale product lifecycle. Were Kawai to come out and say definitively "there is no new MP (MP12 or other) in the works", that would be enough for me to head out literally this very minute and buy the MP11SE. However, instead of being told a definitive no, we're told "we don't have any info", which all but certainly means a new one is in the works but there is no official release date scheduled yet. No doubt COVID has added additional delays, but as the 11SE was released in 2017 and we are now heading down the last half of the year and into 2022, I feel like a MP12 is all but certainly in the final stages of design/prototyping/etc. Of course this is all speculation on my part, but I'd be surprised if I was wrong.

Like others, $3k is a decent chunk of change, and while the MP11se is no doubt a fantastic piano, I simply feel at this point it makes more financial sense to hawk over the internet and await news of the MP12. In keeping my eye out for news of the MP12, I learned about the slip-tape issue on the MP11se. I'm not sure how prevalent or widespread this issue is, but I admit that it added yet another reason to hold off and wait for an MP12 announcement.

Hopefully nobody from Kawai starts to feel like we're breathing down their necks in anticipation. It's their fault for making such a good piano and getting us all fired up over a new model! smile

I also have been wondering about the forever-imminent MP12... Should I wait for it... Is it going to be this year... or go ahead and get the MP11se and deal with the inevitable slip tape issue?

Looking around on a German Kawai forum I sadly discovered this statement from a Kawai Europa Senior Product Manager: "Unfortunately it is still like this: There will be no new MPs in 2021! Sorry".... Sigh!

We will see the new MP12 only "iff" when the restrictions are comletely removed. Why? Because it is a "stage piano". At the moment all the stages all around the entire world are closed!

So unless things get back to normal, we won't see a new MP series instrument.

MP 12 wil NOT be released in 2021 or 2022, but later! With longer keys, thus deeper case!

One thing I don't think the MP12 needs is longer keys. It's almost 24cm to the centre pin. Another cm or two won't make a huge difference. On a piano with very short keys an extra couple of cm is enough to make a big difference.

..and what exactly is a ‘very short key’?

I can’t work with approximations, perceptions, and/or estimations; I need absolutes (totals not sub-totals), precision as quantified by precision machinery, measured by quantum factors and divided by logic, not intuition!

Once again, what on earth is a ‘very short key’?

Pete, you realize by asking that, you are really setting yourself up?

I've heard that MP12 will have such long keys that they are connected to a Shigeru grand piano in Japan. It's that long!

As a simple minded person I thought my informations re MP 12 and VPC2 ( which I received from a high ranking insider) would be helpful for some.

Unfortunately I was wrong in such an assumption.

My thoughts exactly. I need to change my piano and a MP12 with a "fixed" keyboard is all I want. I just hope they won't go overboard with the price.

My exact thoughts too, as an owner of a CA97 (GF2) personally know what a pain is it to have a "faulty" key action, so I'd only buy something that's got the GF3 action (currently present in the CA99/79 models only).

Regards,
David
