I just took delivery of my dream piano, a C. Bechstein A192 Concert. When I started looking for pianos 10 months ago or so, I played this particular Bechstein and absolutely fell in love with the tone and the action. However, it was well out of my price range. I also really loved Steinways and so that led to my purchase of a Steinway A3 rebuild. That piano didn't work out so I was ready to purchase a used, unrestored Steinway. On a whim, I called my local dealer and inquired again about the Bechstein. He made me an offer on it that I could not refuse.

Playing this piano for the first time in my home nearly brought me to tears. I'm happy I found my dream instrument. Happy to give advice to anyone else who is searching for their dream piano. I played many along the way.

Thanks to all in the forum for their invaluable advice and counsel during this process.

Neat. I like those, and there aren’t many (any) on the forum that have a recent 192. I hope you pop in from time to time and let us know how the ownership experience goes.

Congrats on finding your piano!

Congrats with your new and absolutely beautiful Bechstein a192. You can see that the finishing and build quality on this piano is top notch.

My current piano technician is a Fazioli dealer but as with any piano lover he sees the quality of any beautifully made piano. He says that C.Bechstein doens't save any money on build quality or the education of their technicians. Their main goal is to revive the glorious days of the old Bechstein. Interesting story on how you acquired your Bechstein, beautiful things in life often come unexpected.

I'm glad that you've found your ultimate piano and I wish you many inspiring hours of practice, lovely house concerts and joyful moments with your stunning C.Bechstein! I'm sure it sounds as good as it looks wink

Congratulations on your new A-192! Beautiful piano. My 30-year old M-180 (which was the predecessor to the M/P-192, which preceded your A-192) still brings tingles down my spine after all this time - may you enjoy your piano as much as I've enjoyed mine.

I've not yet had an opportunity to try the newer Concert-series grands (with the blue felt and in-house made hammers). Hope to be able to sometime soon, as I'm very curious.

Regardless - enjoy your magnificent instrument!

Congratulations! That is one beautiful piano and I am glad to hear that you got your dream piano shortly after you were able to resolve the A3 issue.

Love well made German pianos. I have never played a C. Bechstein since no piano dealers stock them😭😭 I have played the Academy series and they are good but from what I have seen on net it does not compare to the top line Concert Series. Enjoy. You only live once!

After playing the piano for a couple weeks, I must say I really have fallen more in love with the sound. It has most of the warm mellow tenor of my former Steinway A3 and a more clear ringing treble. The sustain is impressive throughout the registers. The sound just kind of “explodes” off the soundboard. Not sure how else to describe it. The piano also sings bel canto like Bechstein likes to advertise. I hope Bechstein becomes more prevalent in the US. I think it is a equal rival to a new Steinway, maybe better, and can be had for probably 2/3 of the price for a comparable sized model.

Bechstein seems to have a very limited dealer network in the US (per the Bechstein website, there are 6 different US dealers). I’m not sure why this is, and I’m curious about this. They say they sell more than 5000 pianos per year - I’m guessing this includes their Hoffmann and Zimmermann lines. Still, that’s a lot of pianos! Many more than Bosendorfer makes per year, and it is surprising to me that there are so few Bechstein dealers.

Congrats! What little I have heard first hand from Bechsteins of this size is most impressive, and would be close to the top of my short list if I had a living room to fill right now.
