In another thread, somebody asked me for demos of something, I think they might wonder if I can actually play. The thing is I have chosen not to record since 1994. So here are some short snippets from the '94 demos. I used a Kurzweil Micro Piano module and JV80 synth as the controller, ouch! It was just after I had finished studying with Mark Levine and editing his books. I was an inexperienced player, basically a kid back then, but I think my rhythm felt good. My style is derivative of others, which I totally accept. I am satisfied with how my phrasing feels, sort laid back in the groove at times. And I think it has improved substantially over the years and my swing and melodic ideas have gotten deeper. After '94 I studied with Barry Harris and Monty Alexander and dedicated myself to solo jazz piano playing; developing many left-hand styles and thus never having to rely on other musicians. I became a one-man-band: that's part of why I am a fan of solo piano.

I just noticed my favorite old demo track is missing...gotta look for that one

Hi

They are all great RinTin.

I sense Herbie Hancock is an influence on F7 and F minor. A smooth Jazz original certainly captures the essence of that style perfectly. I've been listening to a lot of Bob James recently, so I should know!

Anyway, I enjoyed them all and they are at a very high level that I'll never reach. I've never doubted you could play, as anyone faking credits, certainly wouldn't as specific as you have.

Cheers
