I was told about a month ago from GC that my ES520 should be there the week of the 9/10/21. Yesterday, GC couldn't update info and they said they were going to call Kawai directly. Today, my rep was told no info and with expectation date of 30-90 days. Disappointment but not surprised.

Boy if there was someone on this thread who had some clout with Kawai. <nudge, nudge, say no more...> ha

I already knew that I'd not be able to buy my new piano in 2021.

Now ... based on the tone of this post and other posts these past few months ... I'm beginning to think I won't be able to buy one even in 2022. frown

Wasn’t he named Kawai Jones for a weekend once, with no further explanations whatsoever? 🧐

Can you tell us what you want to get or is it a secret until delivery? Blame all delays on the pandemic. I had a TERRIBLE time wanting to try different models and felt very luck a shop had a NV5. When I bought my Casio GP-500 I didn't audition any other pianos. Everyone here went crazy saying I should have auditioned EVERYTHING. The Casio was damaged and I thought ah ha, I'll try everything only to find the problem in reverse and happy to try and buy the NV5.

Just curious, what date was it ordered?

I had to wait over a week for my Kawai recently. It was a day late, but I was left wondering why it took so long anyway. Must admit to being worried - after I'd paid for it.
But it was new, boxed when I got it.

Peter , PM your email here or FB and I'll forward you the contact info of the fellow I've been dealing with at GC. I think he's in Salt Lake City, which I understand to be GC HQs.

He was much more helpful then the local managers at GC. He emailed me yesterday and said my P-515 is due to ship from their warehouse to the Pasadena GC on 10/1, and he's giving me weekly updates if anything changes. I'd recommend contacting him.

You might also try contacting Pierre Julia at "Pierre's Fine Pianos" here in LA. He's a big Kawai dealer and deals with a lot of DPs. He might have an inside line on one.

Tell him you're a friend of mine, I just spoke with him two days ago. Super nice guy.

It's a secret.

But I'm not keeping it a secret from you guys. I'm keeping it a secret from myself ... because I've not yet decided.

I've tried the NV10 in Raleigh. That was two years ago before the NV10S came online.
I wanted to try an N1X here in Pennsylvania, but the dealer only had the N3X. I tried that instead, but it's a no-go for the price.

Both NV10 and N3X were superb. All the more so as I've been saddled with an old CLP240 for thirteen years now. VSTs good, action bad. frown

I think the N1X binaural sounds had the edge.
I'm not sure which action I prefer, given that the auditions took place over a year apart.

A side-by-side comparison would be better. But my local shop has Yamahas (when available), and no Kawais.
Meanwhile the Kawai shop is 100 miles away. I don't think he has any Yamahas.

But until anybody has stock of any suitable piano, the universe holds the secret. No one knows, not even me.

I'm still waiting for my K-500 Aures since January. Yes, that's 8 months ago.

I recall that someone referred to me as "Kawai Jones", so I changed my name (briefly) to play along. wink

Sorry to hear that.

As I'm sure you're aware, there are a number of reasons for these delays, with many industries affected.

I'm afraid this is completely out of my hands. The best advice I can provide is to contact Kawai America to explain your situation and request availability information directly.

Best of luck!

Kind regards,
James

I was visiting a piano shop in Rochester, NY on Friday and they said that their wait time is nine months to over a year. Crazy!! 😱😱😱

Ahh, I see 😀 That was one of the theories we had, the other being someone hacked your account.

Thanks for the suggestion. I called today but they could only say it was back-ordered.

Keep an eye on all the online stores, including your local shop. I decided I wanted the ES920, and when some showed up at Kraft Music, my brother and I each bought one. We were okay with the white color, and maybe that helped.

Here in Europe, so far as I can tell, there is no problem with delivery of the ES520. I checked two German suppliers, and one Danish, and all had it in stock.

We Europeans had been humiliated for so many years by the ridiculously low prices in the US and could do nothing but despair. Finally the retribution is here and the Yankees shall wait in long queues for ages, even for the most basic digital pianos, whereas we can demonstrate superiority by purchasing multiple ES-920s so that we can choose the one with the least clanky keys and throw away the rest. Without waiting. How about that!
