I remember playing a waltz from a book, which was all waltzes (ages ago). The only thing I remember is that the piece has some interesting harmony and is most likely in C major. It's no. 2 or 3 in the book, and I'm pretty sure no. 1 in that book was the waltz by Streabbog which is sometimes referred to as 'Fairy Waltz' or 'Petit Carnaval'. But after some sleuthing online I can't locate such a book or a piece, and I'm not sure if the piece itself is by Streabbog ha

Does this ring a bell to anyone?

Ok, after further sleuthing I think I have identified the book (90% certain?). It looks like it wasn't just my imagination, it is indeed a book of waltzes by Streabbog and the piece is either Le Coucou or Les Papillons. Unfortunately there is no online source for the score that I can find. I may have to buy the book, unless someone here has it? grin

could it be this song? (probably not, as I realize it’s a different composer)

It's Op. 105.

Also, his name is actually Gobbaerts, he liked to spell it backwards, LOL.

ditto, comment above for a variation of the song title “Papillion”.

However, this song is also a waltz so perhaps was in a book for waltz tunes? In any case, a lovely song:

This one? At least it is from Streabbog:

Thank you all for the help and suggestions! I think I may have found the piece I'm looking for, probably with 60% certainty ha It's a waltz by Streabbog, in C major, with an interesting seventh chord. I even found the score (title = Le Collier de Perles). I think the only way I can know for sure is if I can get ahold of the book (which looks like Volume 2, not Volume 1 as I referenced above), but for now this piece sure ticks the boxes.
