Just discovered this on my grand. The body's sense system is weird - with the noise cancelling I hear only a basic sound (just the millisecond of the hammer hit) and it's far less confusing. It's like I hear through all the nonessential (for practice) sound. I was always with Liszt re: reading and practicing - this is the 21st century take.

...and I can listen to my favourite podcasts (Pivot, Judge John Hodgman, Bill Marr).

edit: there's also a very strange physical side to it.
