Recently moved in the city and I already have a couple of students right now...I would like to have more though. I have a sticker on my car that says I'm a piano instructor with my number. I got business cards - don't know where I should go to hand them (would like some ideas). I'm looking to find someone to make a website for me. What are some groups on facebook/next door or places online/in person where I can advertise? Thanks!

Do you want kids or adults or both? If you want kids, ask at the elementary and the high schools if you can leave fliers with the music dept. if a local piano store doesn’t teach in the store, you may be able to leave fliers there.

Adults. See if there is a Meetup Group
Next Door is iffy: they may want you to pay.

Become active musically in your area: concerts, church, accompany instrumental students for competitions, etc.

Put some nice videos of you teaching and playing on your facebook. Then do a search for Chicago facebook groups and see if you somehow can get in a link to your facebook. For instance, have a friend of you create a post: "Anybody know a good piano teacher in Chicago?" And another friend can answer "Chicagopiano1 is a really good teacher!" with a link to your facebook.

Playing the piano is learning to create, playfully and deeply seriously, our own music in the world.

Find public pianos in Chicago. Make a sign "Pianolessons for young and for old, tel nr" (that is, if you teach all ages), take a basket with your business cards, and play!

Music stores often have a list of teachers for referral.
Neighborhood and local newspapers and websites often have inexpensive advertising.
Community events may provide an opportunity for you to perform or to have your students perform.
You could volunteer to accompany a children's choir.
Make sure that every community you are part of knows you are available.
