Hi!

I am about to buy a used VPC1, owner had it for 2 years, before that demo-model.

What should I look for?

He claims that it is an earlier model that cannot use triple pedals (FP30?) but only double pedals. Is this correct? I didn't think there where different models of VPC1?

thanks for help!

That sounds strange. The earliest models (mine included) certainly work with triple pedals.

Be cautious. Testing should include all functionality (velocity curves, midi settings, etc.), and of course a close inspection and extensive test playing, with a suitable sound source, making sure each key works as it should. Download a manual before testing.

No, I'm afraid this is not correct.

The VPC1 has only ever included the F-30 triple pedal.

The last Kawai instrument to include the F-20 double pedal was the MP10. The VPC1 may be compatible with the F-20, but it should include the F-30.

Kind regards,
James

I have seen the ad for this on “Blocket” to and was surprised about the pedal unit.

My completely random take is that the original shop unpacked it and didn't use, or lost the 3-pedal unit when setting it up as a demo model. They had a spare 2-pedal unit lying around, and that's what was included when they eventually sold the demo unit to the person currently selling it.

I would assume there is something wrong, unless the seller can prove otherwise. Used VPC1 does not have a factory warranty.

One thing to consider is that some of Kawai's European warranties are very long; that might make buying new more compelling.

Unfortunately, Kawai offers only a 2 year warranty in Sweden.

Maybe the seller found this thread and got nervous. wink

That seems to be the case, it had all the correct inputs. Seller lowered the price a bit more considering the pedal issue, so only difference seems to be that it came with F-20 rather than F-30.

Seemed to work perfectly, so I bought it, half price from new seemed ok.

Thanks everyone!

Hello,

@op299, Congratulations, and an F-30 pedal unit can simply be ordered if you like.

Cheers and happy playing,

HZ

Sounds like a great deal to me. How many people use that pedal anyway?
