I've never played an SK7 as when I was looking for a piano the Kawai dealer didn't have any of the larger SK series in stock.

With my new S7X came a long red piece of fabric for cleaning. It was recommended to me to place it underneath the part of the lid that folds back to prevent scratching. I was also told that the black case should be cleaned with 50% methylated spirits and 50% water, and the keys using a very small amount of (colour free) dish washing liquid in water (using a microfibre cloth in both cases). Might be good to get those things bought now ready for delivery.

I think we had the same problem of having quite limited selection of instruments available, I'm glad you found piano you are happy with. If stars would have aligned differently, I might have ended up with S7X also. Hope you get a chance to try out SK7 at some point.

I just got confirmation that Kawai top concert tech MPA in Germany will fly over and prep my piano at some point. Our main conservatory purchased SK-EX while ago, and he will prep that during same visit. Conservatory had S&S D previously in their concert hall and decided to get SK-EX over new S&S D, Yamaha CFX and Bösendorfer 280. They had all instruments shipped to hall for comparison, Yamaha straight from Japan (!).

Shigeru arrived yesterday!

My ears still need to adapt to the new instrument, I'll try to analyze the sound later. Short clip for your listening pleasure (!?):

Sorry about playing and audio quality, this is the first (and possibly last) time I tried to record my playing at home...

Unfortunately I believe your piano is slightly longer than my S7X, at 229cm vs 227cm?

I have heard that size doesn't matter, it's the way you play it!

No, that's just something that people with small pianos say.

You also bought the largest muscle car you could find, right? My condolences…
