Apologies for also posting here as well as in the Pianos section, but I’m thinking of placing an order for a Transacoustic C3X and would like to know why the JP site is showing these as discontinued if I’m understanding google translate.

If only there was a Yamaha version of Kawai James…or a PW member who spoke Japanese..

I don't have any insider information, however this topic was mentioned a few weeks ago:

http://forum.pianoworld.com/ubbthre...-hybrid-piano-discontinued-in-japan.html

Kind regards,
James

Yes I probably should have added to that thread though there was no conclusion reached there - the links to new products were wrong.

@KawaIJames, I appreciate it’s the opposition but is my interpretation of the JP site correct and they have been discontinued ?

Yeah they sure was… lots of speculation. I realised they the products I found was the previous version oh the silent system.

Please let us know if you hear anything from Yamaha about the situation.

The SH and SH2 share the same silent mechanism and use a sound engine from a CLP digital. The SH was released in 2012 after the introduction of the CLP-400 engine. The SH2 was released in 2018 and uses the refreshed CLP-600 engine. Yamaha introduced the latest CLP-700 in 2020. So updating the silent system now to include the latest sound engine and binaural samples from the CLP-700 would not be surprising.

Yes this was my first assumption to that it would make most sense. All electronics are badly hit by the lack up semi-conductors so it might be a reason why they are having troubles producing and maybe delaying the release of now models. I think we just have to wait and see.

I went to Yamaha Ginza yesterday, and they just said that they does not make TA anymore. But about N2avandgrand, they said they stopped selling it because of the semiconductor problem.

Today i got in in writing from Yamaha directly that all models except GBK1 SC1 have been discontinued in wait of new models. The main reason is lack of components for the production stop but they will not resume it until they have released new models. They will probably be announced at on the coming month but arriving at the end of 2022. No more info unfortunately but its very likely it will be the same sound engine as the CLP-700 series has.

And here I was accused of being “crazy” when I suggested ‘Yamaha would be releasing new products’ despite current events; as a matter of fact, I went further and correctly predicted that Yamaha would ‘benefit’ from the new ‘stay-at-home’ crowd now frequenting places like this one more often, and ready to spend some money on anything that promises to relieve the boredom!

With you back how can we be bored. I'm hoping Roland also introduces some new models too.

All these years playing and I still consider myself a novice.
