Tried "Por una cabeza" in tutorial mode (https://musescore.com/user/38711355/scores/6785465/piano-tutorial)- I didn't really succeed.

I'm throughly absorbed in JRB's Last 5 Years Piano Conductor score. The transcription is wonderfully accurate as to how he plays and I love the rhythmic patterns between the hands, as well as the beautiful chord voicings. Lots of variations throughout - both subtle and apparent.

Hi there,

From a ‘twitter-friend’ who is a German organist I saw a tweet where she played music of Anna Bon di Venezia, a young baroque composer from Italy (1738-1767), she died early……>>>
Anna Bon
Her harpsichord music is also just fine at the piano or organ…..
Have a look and play……>>>
Bon; six Sonatas

Kind regards,
Johan B

Hi there,

Many compositions written for harpsichord are wonderful to play on the piano. Here's another example of delightfully playable English Baroque.....Eight Sonatas for harpsichord, Thomas Arne

Thomas Arne, 8 Harpsichord Sonatas

Have a nice day with lots of musical fun…..kind regards,

I decided to switch genre for a while to R&B.
Based on 16th notes.
Style of Ray Charles, and a12-bar blues structure.
I need some variety.
There's a lot of stuff to learn in that book.

Will do some R&B for a while. Give the classical a break.

Went through half of my repertoire, just to keep it fresh (memorizer here), but I had particular focus on Liszt's Consolation no. 1, and Chopin's prelude no. 4 (from opus 28), which are almost memorized, but not quite there yet. Then I messed up right royally in Strauss' "Träumerei", so I got out the score again to restudy, and get it fixed. This will need some attention in the next couple of weeks.

Hi there,

Found a nice French composer from the late baroque to the period of classicism……Michel Corrette (1707-1795) His harpsichord music is fine at the piano
Corette, livre de clavecin

Here is more……Michel Corette at imslp.org

From his father, Gaspard, little music has been handed down, nice on organ, but also on piano....
Gaspard Corrette

Kind regards,

Memorization of Liszt's Consolation no. 1, and Chopin's 4th prelude are essentially done now, but there still remains some work to get the pieces to flow correctly, so I spend some time on these two works every day. But today my main interest was Ravel's Mínuet in C# minor, which I started working on a few days ago. It is my first venture into Ravel territory, and I am approaching it with some apprehension (Beethoven being my more regular fodder, both as a music listener, and as a pianist).

An arrangement of "Autumn Leaves". It's a piece out of a Jazz & Blues book for easy piano that my teacher got her students into.

The piece is in memory of a dear friend who died last week. We were planning for a get-together on the weekend but he didn't make it.

Mozart 23. I've managed to play it, but recording? I can see myself hating this long before I get a decent take. It might be my Nemesis . . .

I am so sorry for your loss. What a beautiful way to remember your friend.

Thank you for your kind words. We were friends for over 30 years. For someone who was very active in the community, in good health and non-smoking, his sudden passing is a big shock to everybody who know him. We were looking forward to a weekend meeting and eventually travel together when countries start opening up. My parents both made it to their 90s so the last thing I would plan on is to attend his memorial service. At least not before his 60th birthday.

In my younger days playing music was more like an academic exercise. I'd go to the teacher once a week and practice the assigned repertoire in between. I had a lot of stress at work a few decades ago and found playing music to be comforting. Today I download pieces regularly. Music provides the much needed emotional support during the time of sorrow.
