I know this is a popular topic on the website as I have read many wonderful threads about uprights on here.
Right now I am considering between two pianos; a Boston 118S PE (2 years old) and a Schimmel C120 (12 years old).
The Boston is going for about 8k and the Schimmel about 11k. I seemed to like the sound of the Schimmel more but maybe the feel of the Boston slightly more.
I am being advised that the Boston will have a much better resale value in the local Canadian market as it is generally more desirable. Also that the Schimmel may be a bit more sensitive to the climate (humidity changes) that we experienced here.
I like the Yamaha YUS series as well but have not seen any deals on use pianos there and if I am being honest I prefer the sound of the other 2.
Any thoughts would be most welcome!

I would say, if anything, the opposite is true regarding tuning stability when comparing these two specific models. Reference: owned a Schimmel classic upright for 15 years and work in a building full of Boston 118S pianos.
Regarding resale, they are points for and against both. With the Boston 118S, it’s a cheaper construction made in a less expensive factory than the rest of the line. With a Schimmel, it does not have mass market name recognition outside of those who know about European pianos.
If they’re close enough that you would consider buying either, use that which you don’t like about each piano as a negotiation tool to lower the asking price…and then try to find a great tech to make the needed adjustments.

The Schimmel is a performance grade piano.Tonally far more interesting and the sensitivity of the response to a pianist is on a much higher level.Renner action, made in Braunschweig Germany
My piano's voice is my voice to God and the great unknown universe, and to those I love.In other words a hymn. That is all, but that is enough.Life goes on, despite pain and fear.Music is beautiful, life is beautiful.

At one time I almost bought a used vanilla 118S myself - that's why I'm curious if the PE upgrades make a difference.
