Casio PX S1100 lost the audio in. Not a problem, you can stream audio over Bluetooth and play over it.

And what if you want to record your performance (backing track+piano)? You do not have audio over USB, so you should record directly on the USB pendrive….ouch! The slot is occupied by the Bluetooth dongle…

Big fail, Casio!

Well, my washing maschine is just a washing maschine and doesn't have features like steam cleaning and drying.

I knew that when I bought it.

So, it's "Big fail, buyer!" if a buyer needing Bluetooth and USB stick recording doesn't check beforehand that the use case is supported.

But yes, dropping features isn't an "improvement".

1) you are right, a customer should always carefully review if a certain product has all the features he/she desires.

2) having said that, this is a major issue: the fact that you can only use Bluetooth OR record audio make impossible, for example, to record your performance while playing over a backing track.

3) finally, this “evolution” will be a deal killer for many potential buyers…

It has audio out so can’t you just connect it to a computer to a audio device or external recording deceive like a zoom recorder or similar?

I have never really heard anyone complaining about this not working for the internal recording feature. smile

Yes, you can connect it to a audio interface (with its cables and power chord) then to a computer (with its cables and power chord).

While you search for the plug adaptor (you know, I was sure it was in the dining room cabinet, but I am not able to find it anymore…), the computer has time to run its updates (5-10 minutes)…

Where is the usb cable? I was sure I left it hanging from the piano! Let’s call the maid…

O f..k her phone is disconnected… where this usb cable could be?… nothing… I cannot remember.

Let’s disconnect the printer and use its cable to connect the audio interface and the computer.

Good, the PC update is over, let’s restart everything..but wait I forgot the audio interface power chord plug adaptor… where the f…k is it?

Oh well the maid is calling back… “yes the plug adaptor… ah yes you unplugged it to use il with the vacuum cleaner. Good thanks, see you next week”.

Let’s go to the garage and recover the plug adaptor. Well everything is ready now.

Not indeed, I spoke too early. The audio interface driver is outdated, I need to update it. But I don’t remember the password.

No problem, it should be in the audio rig box… But where is that box? Let’s call the maid again. Luckily she is available. “The audio interface box? What is an audio interface?… ah that red box with strange pictures on it…I thrown it in the garbage a year ago…”.

F..k double f..k I should remember this password… Corea…no no no… Hancock… nada…ah f..k yeah! It was Scarlatti! How could I have forgotten it!

Let’s update the driver… done…

But do you know what? Now I lost all the inspiration. Let’s switch it off and go for a walk in the bush.

I do agree it is a curious choice to not include Bluetooth internally.

I suppose you could record the midi externally through Bluetooth while playing the accompaniment through Bluetooth.

1) I have not yet bought the instrument: it’s on my radar, but I find this “feature” annoying.

2) I was thinking about such a solution…It could be an idea, but it seems to me that in a YouTube presentation somebody told that the instrument cannot be set in the recording mode when using the dongle.

The issue is not to record midi, but to record audio

I don't think it will work, because it is probable that the usb connector may not be multiport, but you may investigate if a usb hub would work at enabling you to connect both bluetooth and usb drive at the same time...
