That, as your question implies, is up to the buyer.

It's a 1984 seiler and is absolutely gorgeous, haven't seen another one like it.

Seiler129, where did you encounter the link (seilerpianoohio.com)?
Where is it listed for sale?

Thanks, yes I realised that.I did not post the link to point out the price difference but more to show that the piano is a high end well made piano.I am glad I did that because the suggestion that the Seiler in question was said to be a cheaper made piano by a poster.(the 2nd post after I posted the link) The OP's piano is a bit of a mystery because we have not heard how good he thinks its tone or action are.Has the piano been restored or rebuilt? It would be nice if the OP told us if he bought the piano, made a lower offer or walked away.

So I wanted to show that Seiler made very nice pianos by posting the link.

Seiler129 - Just curious - your PW Profile indicates that you currently own a Seiler. If so, why are you seeking to buy another - particularly one that is almost 30 years old?

More interesting is the Seiler in question serial number starts with129 and the OP is Seiler129, the name and serial number of this piano, and he has only appeared on this thread.

I think it is sad that so many serious and helpful Piano World members have taken the time to respond to what appears to be a scam, or at the very least an effort to draw attention to the OP's piano for sale.

Keith D Kerman was first to realize this, just two minutes after the original post, perhaps due to the OP's Piano World name. And others have added credence to this view with their questions.

Forum moderators should delete the link in the original post to dissuade others from cluttering Piano World with such nonsense.

Lotus

If nothing else, it’s a good lesson. With the thread title “too good to be true” for an older Seiler upright, I shoulda known.

Well I cannot understand why he would not just ask what price he should sell the piano.for?

At first blush, I thought that was somewhat incriminating too, but in the OP's defense -- or at least playing devil's advocate -- it's possible that they chose the number "129" because it was in the serial number.

Yes, this why I asked where they'd encountered the link. I could find no evidence of such a piano for sale around Ohio (shouldn't be hard to find a Seiler listing, since they're relatively rare).

People usually go to Craigslist, FB Marketplace, local classifieds, pianomart.com, etc when looking for used pianos. I don't know anyone who'd do a broad internet search for one-off websites listing single pianos for sale. If it's "not" the OP's sale page, then they must have encountered it somewhere. ???

I've mentioned this before, but people seem to regularly arrive at the same misapprehension that if they dangle a "special" piano here that we'll be all over it like piranha on raw meat. I think it's happened three times in just the last couple days (this one, the Billy Joel piano, and another that slips my mind).

btw, it's not unique to PW. It happens on guitar forums, car forums, etc.

And, truth be told, sometimes magic does happen.

(For example...)

I'm a member of a couple VW enthusiasts groups on FB. For me it's only nostalgia -- I enjoy the pictures of rebuilt and customized VWs -- because I learned to drive in a Käfer when I was a kid in Germany, and my best friend had a 60's vintage bus.

Almost everyone I knew's first car was a VW of some sort, but usually a Käfer/Beetle, since they were ubiquitous in Stuttgart. My dad paid only 200 DM for my older brother's (the same one I later learned to drive in). He suspected it only needed a battery, so when the lady he bought it from had departed, he got in, let it start rolling on the sloping lot, put it in gear and let the clutch out and voila: it fired right up! He zipped around the lot a couple times, got out and told my brother to follow him home.

Oh, the magic...

So the other day a lady posted that her husband had passed away and she a a barn and yard full of VW's and various parts (with pictures). People were hurling all sorts of numbers at her. But she had stuff that people wanted.

Wasn’t he likely using the site as a free ad? What better place to advertise a piano than a piano forum

BTW: his forum profile shows he already owns a Seiler—- strange coincidence, I’m sure 😳
