There is always of flurry of submissions the first day. Then things slow down, until there is another spurt of activity near the deadline I've been spotted! My own fault for picking a piece that has me well over my skis, but there's some advantages to that: if the current version on my computer isn't good enough, I have 10 days to make it better. Because it's getting submitted one way or another. Gotta get held accountable for my progress sooner or later, and there's no better time and place than this.

I'd been really looking forward to submitting a piece for one of these for a few cycles, actually, just hadn't worked out due to personal circumstances. No reason to delay any longer for reasons as vague as that, now that I know I'll have something submittable.

Don't think it makes a difference whether the submission is #1 or #60... unless you're in business and you want your company's name to come up on top in a Google search.
Suppose I find that someone else submitted the same piece I'm playing wouldn't mean anything. With a busy schedule, all I'd do is work on the same piece. If I get a better recording, replace the old one.
The piece I submitted is an arrangement for piano with very few piano versions online. At least I won't be compared to other people playing the same piece since there are few recordings.
I'm usually closer to the end of the list. I started working on this piece during the summer when my teacher had a break but it's too advanced to be submitted to the beginner's recital so I'm more in the middle this time.

Hi all.
I feel I have a new lease of life playing piano, perhaps mainly now I'm retired so I have more time.
I think part of me stepping out of my comfort zone would be to submit a piece... something I've certainly never done before.
I have a piece which is really hard for me and it's been a long time in the learning, and far from mastered.
I've tried recording it in to my ES8s internal memory and it's full of errors and issues.
I hope I can finally persuade myself to expose my playing to a wider audience, because I really think it would help me.
Heart rate is rapidly rising just typing this.

Oh gosh... can I submit just the beginning of something, recorded on an out-of-tune piano?  My favorite technician fell from his bike and broke an arm, poor guy. It will be a long wait for me and my piano. I fall off my bike regularly. Got lucky so far. But I'm looking forward to hearing what you do . . on a real, out of tune piano! I have played so many of those I have to detune my digital to make it sound right . . .

If you can play it somewhat decent, that should be good enough already to contain the essence of why you like it. My performance also has errors, so what. Be able to play through errors is also a big achievement. (2) you want technical feedback. If you played it perfect, there's no feedback needed anyway.

(1) because you really like the piece and want to share it. If you can play it somewhat decent, that should be good enough already to contain the essence of why you like it. My performance also has errors, so what. Be able to play through errors is also a big achievement.
(2) you want technical feedback. If you played it perfect, there's no feedback needed anyway. Thank you for this, wouter79. I've been sweating my intended submission because I can't play it fast enough yet. My most recent recording was close , but in spite of it still not being fast enough, it somehow sounded rushed to me. I'll go for a comfortable tempo and go for you reason #1.
