What kind of digital products makes bosendorfer?

I just happened to read the description of this sub forum:

Pffff... Didn't you know that Bosendorfer makes digital instruments? I'm sure everyone in this forum knows it except you!

Bösendorfer make silent pianos, and Disklavier's (probably utilising Yamaha technology).

EDIT: You can get Bösendorfer grands with the Yamaha CFX sound. How gut wrenching for the Bösendorfer people ...

If that's the reason, i find it a little bit on the edge. Steinway also makes similar things. And I'm pretty sure many top European piano makers also offer silent systems on their pianos.

On the other hand, Bechstein actually makes digital pianos, so it would make sense to put it on the list.

They also created the CEUS system (of which I know virtually nothing).

Bechstein does have a virtual piano library, so could be rightfully on the list and it wouldn't be much of a mistake for you 😉.

Cheers and happy playing,

Yes, I run the C. Bechstein DG library in Pianoteq 7, switching between the Player and Venue presets. It's my favorite piano! smile

I guess he meant the Kontakt library made by C.Bechstein. Very good indeed.

Actually, there is an instrument pack (a model) within Pianoteq that also is titled "Bechstein DG". Highly confuses me too: did they model it after the digital library instead of after an acoustic Bechstein? In any case the title is there.

Cheers and happy unraveling,

HZ

I believe that their process is to sample, and use the sample as a reference for creating the model. For the Bechstein they used the Bechstein Digital Grand rather than making their own sample. I have both, they differ, I prefer the sample.

Yes, precisely!

EDIT: After a pause of 9 hours in the thread, I was beaten to this comment by 21 seconds! The mind boggles. 😂

From the Modartt web site:

Quote
This physical model of C. Bechstein Digital Grand is originally derived from a C. Bechstein D 282 concert grand piano, captured by the acclaimed Teldex Recording studio in Berlin. Authorized by Bechstein, the Pianoteq model reproduces the outstandingly brilliant and powerful sound of the C. Bechstein D 282...

So... it's hard to say if they're claiming that they recorded a D 282 specifically for this Pianoteq model. I don't really understand the interplay between the recording and the modeling anyway... confused

Not that it matters much, as long as you like it, which I do. smile
