Is there anyone on the planet that can play/compose in this specific style better than him?(I would call it something like a virtuosic pop style). If you think there is, please post one of their videos since I haven't seen anyone who I think is in the same league but certainly don't know everyone who plays in this style.

I prefer him to Earl Wild, Peter Bence and Hiromi (who I think are terrific), and I think he makes pianists like Jarrod Radnich(whose playing I find boring and unimaginative) look like a beginner.

And, in case you're not familiar with Cateen, should mention he's a good enough classical pianist to get through several rounds in the most recent Chopin Competition.

I love his playing. I subscribe to his youtube channel just to hear stuff like this. He reminds me of Oscar Levant, but I don't think OL could play like this.

He didn't win the competition, but he was still the most interesting person of the lot IMO.

Not living. IMO this starts with Tatum and pretty much ends at that level.

A less virtuosic but very refined and elegant version. Otherwise the old and famous Peterson jazz version.

Another pretty amazing thing about Cateen is that although he, of course, studied piano extensively and starting at a very young age, he was not even a piano major in college and has advanced degrees in other areas. From his bio:

"In 2014 he entered University of Tokyo, majoring mathematics, statistics and information science[3].
In 2018 he entered the University of Tokyo Graduate School of Information Science and Technology, engaging in research of information processing, especially automatic music transcription and automatic music timbre-based arrangement[4].
In 2018-2019 he was sent to France for six months to research more about his study field at IRCAM (the Institute for Research and Coordination in Acoustics/Music)"
