One of the best piano movers I have ever known was a blind Piano technician located in Olympia WA. His name is John Grace. He is retired now and in failing health.

John could play and sing gospel hymns. Like Mr. Trenholm, John lost his eyesight in a couple of childhood incidents. John was African American. John also possessed quite bit of mechanical genius.

And John was wonderful to be around.

Beautiful article. Decades ago, I was impressed when two movers picked up either end of an early Yamaha U1 Disklavier and walked it into my house.

These days I kid myself into thinking I can lift weights, at a gym where the owner squats 440lbs, and one of the coaches squats 500lbs.

I suppose you need quite a bit of muscle to move a piano, and to do it blind, that is amazing.
