Just got an update from my local Steinway Dealer:

The Hamburg Factory's production line is backed up probably due to the COVID shut down earlier this year, and the estimated delivery date for my piano is now November instead of next month!

I know everything will work out for the best, and the dealer is very generous. He's going to drop off a nice Baldwin R for me to practice on until November. I checked out the Baldwin the other day, and It's a very nice instrument.

Serendipity again!

How about a short recording or two on the Baldwin while you have it?

We don't hear them over here that often. Of course Rickster is a shining exception.

Absolutely! I'm actually pretty excited to see how the Baldwin will sound in my house. I'll see what I can pull together once it's setup.

It's been a while since I've posted on here, but the piano finally arrived yesterday (January 11th) at my local dealer. I was so excited that I went there to see them unload it off the truck, unbox it, and inspect it. After playing on it for a few minutes at the dealer, they loaded it back up and delivered it to my house.

WOW.

That is all I can say about this piano. I have played my share of pianos (and Steinways specifically) over the years, and I have never personally experienced a piano like this. I have spent a lot of time playing it already, and the piano just keep giving me more of anything I demand out of it. The sound just rolls. The base tone is rich and full, and it's a well-rounded sound that just fills the room but has a punch with the right attack. The treble just...sings. It naturally carries the melodic line with ease. The touch is perfectly balanced, and it's extremely easy to glide.

After 8 months of waiting, I can say it was well worth the wait, and I couldn't be any happier! This piano feels like a rental in my home. It's going to take a while for everything to sink in.

My friend is a videographer, and he tagged along with me the whole day yesterday. He's compiling a video of the whole experience, and I'll post it here when it's completed.

Fantastic. Interested in knowing just how loud it will sound throughout your house. Enjoy!

Congrats!! I received delivery of a NY Steinway D back in March. Every day I play it and can’t believe it is in my living room. Sounds incredible and the action is like playing on clouds (I know that makes no sense lol).

Well I finally managed to make a video of the new piano.

Here is the video of the Steinway D-274 being delivered. The music was recorded on the piano, and it is my newest arrangement of The Lord's Prayer.

I um, couldn't help notice the large round clock on the wall next to the piano. Maybe you have some advice for other forums members about that? laugh

j/k. What an amazing journey and instrument (nice house, too!). It's amazing that you documented it this way, it really captures how memorable a moment it is.
