It's Fun to Play the Piano ... Please Pass It On!
In addition to my usual school pieces, played Faure improvisation Op 84-5, Rentaro Taki’s 2 piano pieces ( one of the first European style music in Japan). I have scores but could not find way to post them here. So here’s the video. I thought about playing the first one for our local piano club but decided not to - it sounds scary, kind of ominous. I love the Faure piece.
FarmGirl,
Nice…. very nice music and a very different genre than I usually play….enjoy your playing.
🤦🏻♀️ You guys inspire me and make me land on my piano seat sooner than later in the day…then realizing that I am still a few miles from where you are 🤣. Carry on practicing.
Connecting your videos and other thread Farmgirl: very inspiring.
Today I saw on twitter the German organist Andrea playing a piece by Elizabeth Turner, a relatively unknown composer who lived quite briefly from 1730-1756.... I found the work on imslp.....lesson 6……dowloaded it and played… Elizabeth Turner, lesson 6 Fine music in kind of rococo-style…
As a true Baroque enthusiast I have been working on Fugues of Johann Albrechtsberger. For those who are interested, here is the link to some nice, typically baroque fugues, sometimes going on to Rococo. Take a look at the fugue C-major and the fugue D-minor..... Fuga’s of Johann Georg Albrechtsberger Who was he……? Wiki: Albrechtsberger
I'm still retraining my fingers and brain (I had unfortunately been away from the piano for about a decade due to various factors), so I needed to start over again with Alfred's All in One Adult course. But yesterday, I finally made Chatanooga Choo-Choo, the last piece in the first book, sound somewhat respectable. Still needs quite a bit of work though.
2 weeks ago took out an old Irving Berlin song that was recorded 2 years ago. Played it in a faster tempo, made a new recording the day before and submitted it to the PW recital. Blue skies smilin' at me. Nothin' but blue skies do I see.
Yesterday started working on another piece that was downloaded before Christmas arranged for easy piano. 78 bars total. Just starting the first 16 bars.
Today playing Gymnopédie #1 by Erik Satie. Downloaded an arrangement for easy piano before Christmas. Started to learn the full version which is in the same key with more notes written in.
Some organist/friend in the Netherlands send me the national anthem of Ukraine for organists to play in in church next sunday....I played it and posted at Adult beginner forum... Play and pray for Ukraine
