Or, we could double-down on waitin’, and start counting the days to the MP12; surely, you wouldn’t want to pay 3400 for an MP11SE; only to find out, a few weeks later, that the MP12 is coming!

And round and round we go……….

Really? Wow. Am I remembering correctly that some folks were getting these for $1800 back in 2019??

I'm done chasing high end digital pianos. I bought the Kawai KDP-120 a few weeks ago and it is a great piano for the price. I'm saving my money for a nice acoustic in a year or two when my skills improve.

I am glad I ordered my CA49 in March (and found it is stock) so I already got it. Price is now $2899 instead of $2299. Increase of $600! Almost 25%.

I am curious are other brands, Roland, Yamaha etc also increasing their prices this much?

Yeah, that's kind of what I'm thinking. Can't find 'em anyways. So I wait and will continue to use my low budget midi controller to practice.

This is a crazy hike in price. Imagine if gas prices or food prices went up this much at once.

Wow. The CA99 in non-ebony now has a MAP of $6,399. It was either $5,399 or $5,599 when I bought mine in November.

I timed my piano shopping for the price increase; all the dealers were talking about it coming starting at least in March. I think it’s a yearly thing in general, averaging about 7%? But this year seems to have been bigger.

I paid $15k for a K-500 Aures 2, 20% off a PianoBuyer SMP of 18590. Though I see the April 1 list has an MAP of 18895, so I wonder if I didn’t avoid the price increase after all …

The price is up for that, too! But it's worth it.

Wow, it sure is. I can feel the value of my buying power going down frequently these days!

You can hear chants from the concert hall, Let’s go Kawai!

I’m shopping for a Kawai so that really sucks considering my budget is already low.

Curious thread.

With inflation, especially increased fuel costs affecting shipping, lower productivity due to covid and therefore fewer units to be able to sell: it makes sense to raise prices in those circumstances, especially when the added factor of reduced supply is taken into account.

If you can buy used, it's a win win should the instrument do for you what you need.

I'm so confused. Did we ever decide if this thread was an April Fool's or not? laugh

Yeah, looks like around $350 more at Kraft Music, at least compared to what I paid for the KDP110. That was 3 years ago, though.

Hmmm, interestingly, the Yamaha CLP745 is only $200 more than the sticker price when I bought my 645 2 years ago. They’re in stock, too.

Actually, no, they’re not in stock, they just haven’t disabled the ‘add to cart’ button. 🙄

Unfortunately, buying used right now is difficult. Everyone wants top dollar. Very little discounts to be had.

Oddly, a used NV10 showed up @pianomart for $4,990 just a few days ago. It is no longer listed, so I assume someone snatched it.

The owner claimed it was in ‘excellent,’ condition; if this is the case, this ‘was’ a great deal; and who knows if the buyer was able to negotiate an even lower price.
