Hi, I'm thinking of buying a Yamaha EZ 300 keyboard. This has keys that light up to direct your fingers to each note. One reviewer of this instrument said that the keys only lit up with the inbuilt songs and not with any MIDI songs downloaded to it. Can anyone tell me if this is true? And if so can you recommend a keyboard which will light up the keys to any MIDI file played on it? Thanks, Paul

I suggest that you visit the Adult Beginners forum, and get some opinions about the value of light--up keys.
You seem to be changing your requirements, rather than settling on one or two "best choice" DP's.

Yes it does light up (at least the ez220 model does). If a particular midi player does not work correctly, you can try Synthesia. Plenty of tutorials on YouTube on how to set up Synthesia with Yamaha EZ models.

@ebonyk, that is hilarious! I can't believe that chicken is smarter than me: I have spent nearly two weeks learning this song from the Faber Classics Volume 1 book, and that was not too long ago... Shaking my head!
Complete beginner, started 12/2020 with Yamaha PSR-E373. I used to play guitar some 40 years ago and recall some music theory, sheet music reading. Making steady progress with the Faber's Adult All-in-One method books and complements.

…and then they ate the chicken!
Personally, I’ll never be able to eat chicken, after watching such a cute video, without feeling a little guilty.
Do we have anything on horses playing the piano? I’d like to see that.

…and then they ate the chicken! Ok. That's it! That's the last straw. I'm calling the RSPCA.

I’m with you, SP!
First they exploit the poor chicken, who was obviously forced to peck on them piano keys, and then they eat it!
Chickens have a right to roam freely, as intended by nature, yet here we are confronted with the most heinous of abuses: forcing a chicken to play the piano and then serving it for dinner!
Imagine if someone invited you over to play the piano and then ate you after the fact; certainly, you’d at least want the perpetrators/cannibals apprehended, so why should it be any different for chicken little?
Let’s get these people caught, I say!

In our biology class we had to teach a chicken and a hamster to run through a maze in imprinting experiments. Looks like this chicken enjoys playing a tune.
You can only get a chicken to learn 1 trick though. Would be interesting to see how many songs he can learn before turning into McDonald’s nuggets…

Shirley, we see things differently; because I don’t think chicken little ‘enjoys playing the tune,’ but rather that he is being forced into it!
Now, if the chicken were playing some Bill Evans, then maybe I’d believe your claim that he’s enjoying it.
Incidentally, I’m munching on some McNuggets, and you have no idea how guilty I feel. To think that these nuggets came from a chicken forced into labor, yet still, I keep on dipping them nuggets into that sweet & salty sauce…..what the heck is wrong with us?

I get the feeling that this thread is going off topic just a bit.
