Fiddled with it for a while but couldn't quite get it, so:

Has anyone managed to get their CA99 (or 79) sound reasonably close to a Fender Rhodes?

I guess starting from one of the digital piano sounds, and then smartly VT your way to the goal should ultimately be possible - but I just can't figure it out by myself frown

Any help?

If you give up, check out "Lounge Lizard", by Applied Acoustic Systems.

I just had a flashback: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leisure_Suit_Larry_in_the_Land_of_the_Lounge_Lizards

I don't remember if there is a piano in that game, though, but probably 'cause it's a lounge!

lounge lizard is highly regarded by many (so is keyscape if money is no object). if you do decide to go that route, you might want to try this decent free rhodes plugin before you part with money. if it doesn't sound good enough for you you can still buy another later

sorry i can't offer help with the ca99 or 79

My apologies for asking what may be a silly question, however have you tried selecting one of the soundsin the E.Piano category, such as "Classic Electric Piano"? I believe this sounds pretty convincing, however there are different types of "Rhodes sound", so it may not reproduce the exact same characteristics that you're seeking.

Just out of interest, do you have an example song (from a favourite band or artist) that features a Rhodes sound you'd like to reproduce?

Kind regards,
James

I guess what I have in mind is Stevie Wonder (in quite a few pieces), the Doors (oh and I'd love to imitate that amazing Vox Continental organ too...), Herbie Hancock(ish) pieces, etc.
I hope you're feeling the vibe I'm looking for

How about this?

I don't believe the CA99 has any Vox organ sounds, I'm afraid.

Don’t understand the issue here - the tine pianos in the CA99 are Rhodes sounds. They are pretty decent.

The best stand-alone Rhodes VST is the Scarbee EP-88S, if you want to go down that route.

It's probably just the default Electric Piano sound with the Effects turned off.

The Virtual Technician settings (called "Other sound settings" on the CA99 when a non-piano sound is selected) can be used to adjust the sound (key-off noise, for example), however the results are perhaps less drammatic than with acoustic piano sounds.

Kind regards,
James

That is what I got, Lounge Lizard

I am very happy with it, although I was not looking for a specific sound.

Well I've had the CA99 for just over a month now and I still can't get used to how good it is.
Many of the sounds are nothing short of excellent, and the action is just smack on. unbelievable.
Hands down the best digital instrument I've ever touched
