Probably blue, did you just get a new piano? Sorry, I missed that somehow. Congratulations.

It’s a shame that we can’t just talk about pianos without devolving into a discussion of pets.

Question on Topic?

How do I know:

If my piano is playing/performing at the very very best it can?
or is it just playing/performing at the very very best for my ear & touch?
or is it just playing/performing at the very very best that my technician can do?

or are there better action/string parts that will improve my piano?

I feel like it is the never-ending search!

There comes a point when one has to say - enough is enough.

I have also noticed that when one is trying to understand the finesse of one's piano - it can be different from day to day or weather environment or even times of day or even my arthritis is really hurting today, I'm not striking the keys with the same finesse as I usually do!
So should I rip out the entire action just because on a rainy day my piano doesn't sound as good as it usually does?

I know that is taking it to the extreme but there comes a time when one has to stop and just enjoy what one has.

Why am I saying this? Probably for MYSELF actually!

Things tend to go off topic in LONG threads. We are just sharing but still include piano related things in our post.
It’s something I would say is good in this community.
(At least it’s non-political)

Brdwyguy~

Piano is something you can never really get the best in IMO-there’s always more you can do!

I would compare it to my 3D printer, I can upgrade the parts to the best, best settings, but there is always more upgrades so it’s never going to be the BEST. And those upgrades need money!!

Just enjoy the piano 😉 I sure am even though mine isn’t the best.

I’m still trying to play as well as my piano is capable of playing. Haven’t gotten to that point. Unless I ever feel my piano is holding me back, I don’t care if there something better; I’m sure there is, but it is irrelevant as I won’t play it well enough for it to make a difference.

As far as I’m.concerned, most of the questions with the piano ‘being good’ are with the pianist not the instrument. My advice: enjoy whatever piano you have and work on maximizing its capabilities…. Don’t work on rating the piano.

I changed the avatar because I’m sure the change will make me play better.

I always enjoyed listening to Bugs play Chopin for Gossamer, the big furry orange monster with sneakers.

Thanks Brdwyguy for the posts!
My parents were not interested in classical music, so my earliest remembrances are the Looney Toon guys playing the great classics.
