Hi There,

I have, as you probably all have, a bunch of PDF sheets and recently, I've seen a Youtube Piano player using some kind of software or something like that where the PDF changed automatically from page to page, which I thought it was awesome as it allows me not to waste time changing pages with my fingers and loosing rhythm and concentration.
Does any one knows a PDF reader that can do that sort of thing? Change a Sheet Page automatically from time to time?

Forscore (the pro version) can do it with a head motion. It watches you through the camera on the ipad. I tried it, but not for me. I use a bluetooth pedal.

Forscore can also auto turn the pages for you, you need to indicate the number of measures and tempo. I haven't used or tried that yet. I have been using facial gestures, but it can be a bit flaky at times, and just start turning pages when I don't want it to.

What BT pedal do you use Sam?

Mobilesheets (and I assume Forscore) can do some kind of an automatic scrolling or timed page change thing. I've never tried that feature out myself, though.

I use forScore with a foot pedal also. I've never tried the head gesture or the timed approach.

For the bluetooth foot pedal, I use a Page Flip Butterfly. Works like a dream, I have zero problems with it. I originally used an AirTurn Ped which was very unreliable and flaky. I believe people here on ABF have had better results with theAirTurn Duo (IIRC?), which is just to say, if you have a foot pedal that's not working well, it's not that the entire genre is no good, just try a different brand or model.

Plantunes, have you considered the foot pedal route?

A beefy AirTurn BT200/S-2 with metal switches. Never had a problem with it. It does have an audible mechanical click when you turn a page, which one of my teacher's found objectionable. I use the app to set it to only turn forward - never back - so no foot mistakes.

One professional pianist I know and admire greatly recently was performing a duet with a partner, each with an iPad and a foot pedal. The foot pedal stopped working mid-concert for the one pianist, so she was obliged to flip the pages by touching the screen. These devices are not infallible, it would seem.

Back in the dim dark ages, before the Internet, before iPads, and before electricity, I learned to turn pages in hard-copy scores by hand and have rarely felt the need to change my tactics, Luddite that I am.

Funny, I started out with an iPad and switched to hard-copy books recently. I must be a Luddite too.

I have a 2n1 convertible and use Musicreader PDF and also have Mobilesheets for Windows and Android. Nice thing about Musicreader is one price and it works on all different Operating systems. But the downside is it cost money for Subscription service, but I paid for multiple years and not to much money IMHO. The subscription model is because they sync your library between devices and store your music in the cloud. The syncing has worked for me. Mobilesheets looks a little nicer and to be honest I'm still deciding which I will use long time. It is nice to have two as if one has a problem I can use the other one. Only happened once at Church but I was glad I had an option. If I got a paying position I would most likely buy a Boox Max E-Reader and have all my scores on one. I'm hoping in a few years the color E-Reader technology makes it to market at an affordable price.

My reasoning going the digital way is I'm getting older and carrying all that music to and from practice is getting old. Also both programs let you use the camera function to take pictures of scores. The one nice thing I do like about Musicreader PDF is they set up an email account for you that you can email music to that is then very easy to add to your library. I have used it several times when the Music Director added/changed some music and I didn't have it at home. Asked her to email to me one time and the other time I just used my phone to take the pictures and email to myself. When I got home the PDF was in my account to add to my church library.

Not to hijack the thread but what tablet are people using to run these apps?

I use an iPad Pro, the 12.9 once one (although I used to use a 9 inch one).

The biggest ipad pro. And sometimes, with my old eyes, I will turn it sideways into landscape mode to make the music even bigger. The bright screen is a big help too - when I have to go back to paper it looks so dim!

After reading the use of Forscore with facial gestures I bought a 2nd hand 12.9 ipad pro, upgraded the os as soon as it arrived, ordered Forscore and then the pro version. Unfortunately, having looked at devices I find gestures are not supported on this device. Looking at all the info on Forscore it doesn't really say what versions of the ipad are not compatible. It does say that you should look at what it says in devices before ordering but I had already ordered before I found the Devices!

Looks like I need a foot turner. Looking at page flip butterfly there are number of reports saying the left pedal not working or ceasing to work.

Where do you place the foot pedal and which foot do you use?

Left foot since the right foot is constantly on the sustain (right) pedal. The left foot has much less to do. I place the bluetooth pedal just to the left of the left pedal.
