Hello,

I've been using an M-AUDIO SP-2 pedal with my Casio PX-S1000 digital piano. Recently, I've used the piano's USB port to connect it to the latest Pianoteq for Linux trial version that I've downloaded to my laptop.

When I try to calibrate the pedal, Pianoteq tells me that my pedal is "on/off only", which is clearly not true.

I am completely new to connecting a digital piano to a computer. Am I missing something? Is there a way to diagnose and troubleshoot this problem so that I can make full use of my M-AUDIO SP-2 and PX-S1000 with Pianoteq? Thank you!

Usually, the half-pedal needs a pedal from the brand of the piano. The S-34 pedal board by Casio for example. The manual only indicates the support of half pedal for this pedal unit.

Note that even for a simple on/off pedal, there are 2 different conventions (normally close vs. Normally open) both used by different brands… with a TRS jack needed for an half pedal support, there would be 6 possible wirings ! I wouldn’t expect a plug n play pedal for a given piano excepted if the pedal is made specifically for the brand. (S-34 for your piano, FC3 for Yamaha…)

I have FOUR of them (it is my go-to pedal for multiple keyboards) and, for sure, is a simple on/off one. You can switch polarity (Normally Open or Normally Closed) and that is all. For 16,50€ right now, you can't ask much more.
