Can anyone give me a rough idea of what a reasonable asking price would be for a used Estonia 190 (2005)? Great condition. Well-maintained. Recently regulated action. All original. I am thinking of selling mine vs. possible trade.

I really have no idea as I have not paid attention much to piano prices since I bought the Estonia.

Thanks!

Assuming the case is polished ebony:

51K(current SMP) x ,75(25% off SMP) x .48(depreciation schedule in Piano Buyer) = 18K

Thank you. I was thinking close to $20k for a private sale, but honestly had no idea.

Ask 20k but be willing to take 18k. Best wishes. Is there suddenly a huge interest in buying used Estonias?

I figure…$25K is likely close to what you’d find at a shop. As a private seller, you will probably need to go lower, but start high and then you can come down. If you’ve got the best deal/piano of its kind in the area, and they really want it, you might be able to create some demand.

I think it would sit on the market for some time at $25k, sell in a reasonable time at $20k, and pretty quickly, below that, as a private sale.

Private sellers don’t have the ability to provide a warranty, financing, or a subcontracted moving crew. So there’s a fairly large outlay of cash with a decent amount of risk involved for the buyer. Not that it matters much, but I suspect the new street price in 2005 was around or just under $25k…just a guess.

Have you checked for comps on PianoMart (I sold a previous piano that way), classifieds here (I sold my European upright piano that way), eBay, Craigslist, random Google searches, etc? Let your technician know, as well as local piano teachers. That would probably be a nice first grand piano (or “step up”) for someone. Good luck with the sale.

The one nearest your vintage is asking about $26k, in California. I think that is a dealer, so you'll be adding less value to the transaction. 20k sounds about right.
