I'm using a Roland FP-30X in a small, casual, performance setting where I'm needing to play a few different instrument sounds and transpose some of the songs to be able to play along with a small ensemble. I would like to be able to do this quickly within the piano itself, but it requires a few steps within the Roland app. This is because the FP-30X does not offer the ability to save these registration settings by song. To be able to quickly change the transpositions and voices I started using Mainstage. While Mainstage does a 'decent' job for the voices, I much prefer the Roland sounds and/or the General MIDI 2 sounds offered with the FP-30X. As far as I know Mainstage uses the same 'voices' as GarageBand and Logic, so using either of those will not make any improvement. Two voices I am looking for I have not been able to find voices for Mainstage are: Muted Trumpet and Harmonica.
If I were to upgrade to the FP-60X, this would resolve this issue, as it offers the ability to register sounds/transpositions. But, I'd rather not have to trade/sell my FP-30X, take the hit on the depreciation, and shell out for an FP-60X. Many online reviewers mention the FP-60X is mostly similar to the FP-30X, but the minor differences are ones that I am looking for.
Rather than a hardware upgrade, I would appreciate any suggestions for reasonably priced patches/voices or alternate software for live performance.

I'm surprised that MainStage doesn't cover your needs by itself, as it offers a larger library than GarageBand. It offers the entire set of sounds/instruments/effects available in Logic Pro:https://www.apple.com/mainstage/plugins-and-sounds/

But if they don't float your boat, have you considered adding whatever plugin you like? It's easy if it's available in Audio Units (AU) format. Most are constantly rotating on and off sale and are pretty cheap.

Thanks for the suggestion. Being an absolute noobie in MainStage and only a couple of years as an adult beginner, I thought I was missing something.

I'll need to figure out how to import and use AU Instruments into MainStage.

Thanks again!

I'm surprised that you can't find the sounds in Mainstage for your needs especially just being in music for only a couple of years. Watch some YouTube videos of Mainstage and how to add instruments to Mainstage.

Good luck 😀

All these years playing and I still consider myself a novice.
