I'm using a Roland FP-30X in a small, casual, performance setting where I'm needing to play a few different instrument sounds and transpose some of the songs to be able to play along with a small ensemble. I would like to be able to do this quickly within the piano itself, but it requires a few steps within the Roland app. This is because the FP-30X does not offer the ability to save these registration settings by song. To be able to quickly change the transpositions and voices I started using Mainstage. While Mainstage does a 'decent' job for the voices, I much prefer the Roland sounds and/or the General MIDI 2 sounds offered with the FP-30X. As far as I know Mainstage uses the same 'voices' as GarageBand and Logic, so using either of those will not make any improvement. Two voices I am looking for I have not been able to find voices for Mainstage are: Muted Trumpet and Harmonica.
If I were to upgrade to the FP-60X, this would resolve this issue, as it offers the ability to register sounds/transpositions. But, I'd rather not have to trade/sell my FP-30X, take the hit on the depreciation, and shell out for an FP-60X. Many online reviewers mention the FP-60X is mostly similar to the FP-30X, but the minor differences are ones that I am looking for.
Rather than a hardware upgrade, I would appreciate any suggestions for reasonably priced patches/voices or alternate software for live performance.
