Whoever identifies the source of the noise correctly on the first try might get a prize (prize might be imaginary).

Tim,

I hear first the sound of hard felt hitting the strings. Also I hear something loose down below such as the damper lever flange (if it's screwed on), or holder itself (possibly the sostenuto tab hitting a loose and sloppy sostenuto rod). So far that's my guess.

Also the wire sounds as if its vibrating against hardened felt in the guide rail. So far that's my guess.

So many noises...I wonder which one is the target?
At the end I hear split wedges going too far through strings...

Well I would have said a loose lead earlier but I was thinking there weren't any up that high. But also sounds like a loose flange or even a loose wire in the damper head.

Loose lead is correct, but you already had too many guesses to win a prize.

I couldn’t find my dental molar remover tool to tighten them with, so I used a strange knurled plier that fit in the space well. Here’s the fix I did:

Was curious what other tools people use. I was thinking modified duck-pill pliers could be a good tool for this job.

Why is it that I could watch your first posted video but can't see either of the others?

I am thoroughly devastated to not win the prize. I don't know if I can cope. Could take ten years to get over this letdown. LOL!

I often use my grand hammer head removing pliers to accomplish this task. But if I don't have them handy in the field, a drop or two of CA will suffice after pushing it in fi ger tight.

I have no clue. The settings say “Public: anyone on the internet can see”. I’ll post on YouTube next time instead of Vimeo.
