I find that WNG hammer flanges swing 10 to 11 times when doing the swing test, as opposed to the ideal 4 to 5 times. Is this too loose and is this going to affect touch and tone significantly?

Fandrich & Rhodes recommend 9 swings so that doesn't seem far off. I don't see it as an issue if the flange has no slop in it. Usually that is the problem with too many swings: means the pin is loose in the felt. But WNG has solid bushings, right?

Greetings,
The WNG bushings, do not require the amount of friction for stability that cloth bushing does. To get even close to the stability the hard bushings provide when pinned at 1 gram, a cloth bushing will need at least 8 grams of friction, which is too much.

When I was using the cloth bushed pieces, I would try for hammershanks to swing 4-7 times, depending on humidity at the time. With the WNG, 1-2 grams is plenty on the hammer shank flanges but you do need 5 grams on the repetition lever if you want springs strong enough to power the keys back up.
Regards,
