The Akai Miniak has a much better key action than a MicroKorg. They are well built with a good action like an Akai midi controller. It may even be the same action as some Akai midi controllers, but I'm not sure.

The benefit is that it is a useful addition to your home setup (accessing it from a larger keyboard over midi) when you are not traveling.

A critique of the Miniak would be that polyphony is limited to 8 voices, and that the tone of some of the built-in sounds tends to be a little on the cool side of neutral. Keyboard players may have little interest in the vocoder mic so finding one where the mic is missing (not terribly hard to do) and paying a lower price as a result may be desirable.

3 octaves and full size keys at that overall size is a real bonus. shame about the polyphony.
